John A. Petropulos
John Anthony Petropulos was an American historian of Modern Greek history. Petropulos was born in 1929 in Lewiston, Maine to Greek immigrants. He received his B.A. from Yale in 1951 and his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1963. He joined the faculty of Amherst College Amherst College ( ) is a private liberal arts college in Amherst, Massachusetts. The Modern Greek Studies Association (MGSA) is a scholarly organization for modern Greek studies in North America. It was founded in 1968. It is interdisciplinary, covering language, history, politics, economics, society, and the arts of modern Greece, broadly defined. Paraskevas Nikiforos Diamandouros ( el, Νικηφόρος Διαμαντούρος, ) (born June 25, 1942) is a Greek academic who was the first National Ombudsman of Greece from 1998 to 2003 and has been Ombudsman for the European Union from April 2003 to October 2013. He was re-elected as European Ombudsman in 2005 and again in 2010. Personal life Diamandouros was born in Athens, Greece, on June 25, 1942. His interests include classical music, film, reading, and writing. He has published writings on state-building, and nation-building, on democratisation and on the relationship between culture and politics.
