Johannes Schmoelling
Johannes Schmoelling (born 9 November 1950 in Lohne, Germany) is a German musician and keyboard artist. He was a member of the prolific electronic music group Tangerine Dream from 1979 to 1985. A classically trained musician, he began playing piano at the age of eight. By twelve he had begun playing the pipe organ and successfully mastered the instrument so well that he began to play professionally at various churches. By 1978 Johannes had graduated from college with a degree in sound engineering and secured a job working on live theater performances at the prestigious Schaubühne am Halleschen Ufer in Berlin. He ended his stint with Tangerine Dream at the end of 1985 to pursue a solo career and has produced several solo albums as well as soundtrack music for numerous German television programs. Lohne (Oldenburg) (Northern Low Saxon: ''Lohn'') is a town in the district of Vechta, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is located approximately 8 km south-west of Vechta. The town lies on the A1 freeway between Bremen and Osnabrück. Geography Geographical position Lohne lies in the Oldenburg Münsterland between Oldenburg to the north and Osnabrück to the south. Through the city goes the Weser-Ems-watershed from north to south. In the east is the catchment area of the Hunte and in the west the catchment area of the Hase, which lies on a Geest, part of the Dammer Berge. ''Firestarter'' is a 1984 American science fiction horror-thriller film based on Stephen King's 1980 novel of the same name. The plot concerns a girl who develops pyrokinesis and the secret government agency known as The Shop which seeks to control her. The film was directed by Mark L. ''Legend'' is the twenty-eighth major release and the eighth soundtrack album by the German band Tangerine Dream. It was released in 1986 for the North American theatrical version of the film ''Legend''. It was released in the USA and Canada only. The film was written by William Hjortsberg, starred Tom Cruise, Mia Sara and Tim Curry, was produced by Arnon Milchan, directed by Ridley Scott and released domestically by Universal Studios. The album was released on compact disc on 15 August 1995 through Varese Sarabande. Background After a disappointing test screening with Jerry Goldsmith's original orchestral score, Scott decided to make changes to the film. Sidney Sheinberg, president of MCA (the parent company of Universal at the time), felt that the Goldsmith score would not appeal to the youth and pressed Scott for a new score. ''Le Parc'' (1985) is the twenty-sixth major release and fourteenth studio album to be recorded by electronic artists Tangerine Dream. Each track on the album is inspired by parks from around the world. ''Le Parc'' marked Tangerine Dream's last studio release with Johannes Schmoelling, who left the band in October 1985. The title track "Le Parc" was used as the theme for the short-lived U.S television series, ''Street Hawk''. A video was produced for "Tiergarten". The track "Central Park" was used as the opening theme for the movie ''Diamond Ninja Force'' directed by Godfrey Ho. According to Dave Connolly of ''AllMusic'', ''Le Parc'' is in essence a series of "musical postcards" from major parks of the world that focus on the mood of these places rather than their geographical qualities. ''Poland - The Warsaw Concert '' is the twenty-fourth major release and fifth live album by Tangerine Dream. It spent one week on the UK Albums Chart at number 90. Track listing "Tangent" contains a hidden track at the end, an encore titled "Rare Bird", which is not listed on the sleeve of any of the original 1984 issues. On some CD reissues, it is separated and listed as its own track. The four tracks consist of 3-4 distinct sections each. The third of the four sections of "Tangent" is titled "Polish Dance" (which is notably similar to the composition "Choronzon" from ''Exit'', played backwards). The second section of "Barbakane" is titled "Warsaw in the Sun", which was remixed and released as a single, with "Polish Dance" unaltered on the b-side. ''Thief'' (1981) is the fifteenth major release and second soundtrack album by Tangerine Dream. It is the soundtrack for the 1981 American neo-noir crime film ''Thief'', directed by Michael Mann. It reached No. 43 on the UK Albums Chart in a 3-week run. "Beach Theme" and "Beach Scene" are two different mixes of the same piece. The album version of "Dr. Destructo" is quite different from the film version. An extended version of "Dr. Destructo" was available only on a promo single. "Igneous" is a remix of "Thru Metamorphic Rocks" from the 1979 album ''Force Majeure''. Neither "Beach Theme" nor "Trap Feeling" appear in the film. After Tangerine Dream completed the soundtrack, Mann needed another sequence. As Tangerine Dream was on tour, Craig Safan composed and performed "Confrontation". Loom (German Band)
A loom is a device used to weave cloth and tapestry. The basic purpose of any loom is to hold the warp threads under tension to facilitate the interweaving of the weft threads. The precise shape of the loom and its mechanics may vary, but the basic function is the same. Etymology and usage The word "loom" derives from the Old English ''geloma'', formed from ''ge-'' (perfective prefix) and ''loma'', a root of unknown origin; the whole word ''geloma'' meant a utensil, tool, or machine of any kind. Jerome Froese
Jerome Froese (born 24 November 1970 in Berlin, Germany) is a German musician who, in 1990, officially joined his father Edgar Froese in the band Tangerine Dream. He remained a member until 2006. Prior to his direct involvement in Tangerine Dream, Froese often appeared on the covers of the band's albums as a child, beginning with the 1973 release of '' Atem'', when he was two years four months old at the time the album was released. Career In 1982, Froese started playing guitar and keyboard. A few years later, in 1985, he began playing drums after he got a drumkit for Christmas. From here, Froese became proficient on both keyboards and guitar, leading up to his induction into Tangerine Dream. Froese's first guest appearance with the band was on their 1989 album, ''Lily on the Beach'', playing guitar on "Radio City". ''Quichotte'' is the fourteenth major release and third live album by Tangerine Dream released in 1981. It was re-released in 1986 as ''Pergamon''. It is a selection from the two live concerts held on 31 January 1980 at the Palast der Republik in East Berlin. The second of the two original concerts is available as ''Tangerine Tree Volume 17: East Berlin 1980''. The original title ''Quichotte'' is a reference to Don Quixote, a film version of which was being screened in a nearby cinema as one of the concerts was performed, while the retitle is a reference to the Pergamon Museum located in East Berlin near the Palast der Republik.
