Johannes Friedrich (bishop)
Johannes Friedrich (born June 20, 1948 in Bielefeld-Gadderbaum) is German Lutheran theologian and was a German Lutheran bishop. Education and career Friedrich studied theology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and at the University of Tübingen, was reverend in Nuremberg, campus minister at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and German Lutheran Provost at Redeemer Church in Jerusalem. He is a member of the EKD Council of the Protestant Church in Germany, since 1999 ''Landesbischof'' (bishop) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and from 2005 leading bishop of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church of Germany. Friedrich worked on a Lutheran/Catholic Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification (JD) and supports the Christian–Islamic dialogue in order to cause the Christian–Islamic understanding. Johannes Friedrich (27 August 1893, in Leipzig-Schönefeld – 12 August 1972, in Berlin) was a German hittitologist who published the ''Hethitisches Elementarbuch'' (1940), and the ''Kurzgefasstes Hethitisches Wörterbuch'' (1966). A translation of his book "Entzifferung Verschollener Schriften und Sprachen" ( "Extinct Languages" ) was published by Philosophical Library New York 1957: a study of Ancient Orient languages, including Egyptian hieroglyphics, cuneiform writing, Hittite hieroglyphics and other scripts and languages of the Old world. Johann Friedrich (5 May 1836 – 19 August 1917) was a German theologian. He was prominent as a leader of the Old Catholics. Biography He was born at Poxdorf in Upper Franconia, and was educated at Bamberg and at the University of Munich. He was ordained a Catholic priest in 1859. John Frederick (german: Johann Friedrich; 27 August 1542 – 9 February 1600) was Duke of Pomerania from 1560 to 1600, and Bishop of Cammin (Kamień) from 1556 to 1574. Elected bishop in 1556 and heir of the duchy in 1560, he remained under tutelage of his great-uncle Barnim XI until he took on his offices in 1567. Biography Johann Friedrich was the oldest of ten siblings born to Philipp I of Pomerania-Wolgast and Maria of Saxony. At the age of 14, he was elected bishop of Cammin on 29 August 1556, after his predecessor Martin von Weiher had died on 8 June. Starting with John Frederick, the House of Pomerania held this title until the last duke died in 1637, thus ending the considerable independence of the bishopric's territory from the rest of the Duchy of Pomerania. In 1560, the bishopric's administration was reformed accordingly.
