Johann-Peter-Hebel-Plakette is a literary prize, awarded annually since 1960, by the community of Hausen im Wiesental in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The prize is given in memory of Johann Peter Hebel, on the Saturday before 10 May each year. Maurus Gerner-Beuerle
Maurus Gerner-Beuerle (28 January 1903 Р10 August 1982) was a German Lutheran theologian and pastor who served for many years as the "Domprediger" at Bremen Cathedral. His gifts as a narrator and as a preacher, along with his commitment to truth led to his becoming one of the best known Christian preachers of the post-war generation in West Germany. He was, in addition, an author and poet. Much of his published work appeared in German, but some was written and published, at least partially, in the Alemannic he had learned as a child in South Baden. Life Provenance and early years Maurus Wilibald Beuerle was born and grew up in the village Hausen im Wiesental, a short distance up the valley from L̦rrach, in the extreme south-west of Germany. He was the third-born of his parents' four recorded children. He was born into a Protestant family: his father, Oskar Beuerle (1867-1952), served as the village pastor between 1901 and 1933. Johann Peter Hebel
Johann Peter Hebel (10 May 1760 – 22 September 1826) was a German short story writer, dialectal poet, Lutheranism, Lutheran theologian and pedagogue, most famous for a collection of Alemannic German, Alemannic lyric poems (''Allemannische Gedichte'') and one of German tales (''Schatzkästlein des rheinischen Hausfreundes''"Treasure Chest of Rhenish Tales"). Born in Basel, Hebel entered primary school in 1766 and joined a Latin school three years later; he visited the schools in Basel during summer and in Hausen and Schopfheim respectively in the nearby Wiesental during winter. After the death of his mother in 1773, he remained at school, graduating with the help of friends from the ''Gymnasium illustre'' of Karlsruhe in 1778 and going on to study theology. He became a home tutor, an assistant preacher, an assistant teacher, a subdeacon and, in 1798, a professor and court deacon. Hebel was interested in botany, natural history and other subjects. Emma Guntz
Emma Guntz (née Emma Linnebach) (born 30 August 1937 in Bruchsal) is a German-French poet, journalist and editor living and working in Strasbourg, France. Life After passing her Abitur exam in her home town of Bruchsal, Emma Guntz studied English, Latin and history at the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg. Soon after graduation she married Antoine Guntz, a Strasbourg physician; they have three children. In the 1970s she worked as a radio journalist, communicating German culture and tradition to Alsatians. From 1984 to 1996 she hosted a weekly broadcast on poetry at Radio France 3 Alsace, in which she presented contemporary poetry in French, German and the Alsatian dialect.
