Johan Ernst Berg
Johan Ernst Berg (19 October 1768 – 15 October 1828) was a Norwegian jurist, politician, and civil servant. Berg was born on the Blussuvoll farm in the parish of Strinda in Søndre Trøndhjems amt, Norway. He was the son of a farmer Haaken Larsen Blussuvolden. He graduated as a lawyer in 1795 (during the time of Denmark–Norway) and became an agent with the Danish general post in 1802. In 1803, he became bailiff in the Salten district of Nordland county. In 1815, he was appointed to the post of County Governor of Nordlands amt. During his time in office, he was also elected to the Norwegian Parliament in 1815-1817 and 1826, representing the county in which he lived. Strinda
Strinda is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The municipality encompassed the eastern part of what is now the municipality of Trondheim south and east of the main city center all the way southeast to the lake Jonsvatnet, and it originally included what is now the municipality of Malvik. The western part of the municipality was heavily urbanized, while the areas further east and south were more suburban. The administrative centre was actually located in the neighboring city of Trondheim, just across the Nidelva river on the ''Kjøpmansgata'' road. The Storting ( no, Stortinget ) (lit. the Great Thing) is the supreme legislature of Norway, established in 1814 by the Constitution of Norway. It is located in Oslo. The unicameral parliament has 169 members and is elected every four years based on party-list proportional representation in nineteen multi-seat constituencies. The county governor ( nb, statsforvalteren; nn, statsforvaltaren, lit. ''state administrator'' in English) is a Norwegian government agency that represents the central government administration in every county in Norway. Responsible for a number of supervision and management duties, the governor is the representative of the king and the government of Norway in each county, functioning as the connection between the state and the municipalities. The Bodø affair was a diplomatic scandal involving Sweden-Norway (then a dual monarchy) and the United Kingdom, which lasted from 1818 to 1821. The affair arose over the illegal trading activities of an English company in the Norwegian port of Bodø, where Norwegian officials in 1818 seized a large cargo contrabande belonging to the company and arrested one of its owners, who had attempted to smuggle it into Norway.
