Johan Berg
Johan Berg (12 May 1917 – September 1981) was a Norwegian military officer. Career Berg was born in Stange to Sigvart Berg and Borghild Evenrud. He graduated as military officer in 1939. From 1939 to 1940 he served as lieutenant with the 6th Division, and from 1940 to 1945 with the Norwegian Armed Forces in exile in the United Kingdom. He continued his military career after the Second World War. In 1966 he succeeded Vilhelm Evang as head of the Norwegian Intelligence Service. From 1970 he served as head of ''Distriktskommando Vestlandet'' with the rank of major general. He edited the journal ''Norsk Militært Tidsskrift'' from 1957 to 1966. Berg died after a long illness in September 1981, 64 years old. Awards Berg was decorated Knight of the Danish Order of the Dannebrog. is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the Traditional districts of Norway, traditional district of Hedemarken. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Stangebyen. The Norwegian Intelligence Service (NIS) or Etterretningstjenesten (E-tjenesten) is a Norwegian military intelligence agency under the Chief of Defence and the Ministry of Defence. Order Of The Dannebrog
The Order of the Dannebrog ( da, Dannebrogordenen) is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as ''White Knights'' to distinguish them from the ''Blue Knights'' who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The ''Grand Commander'' class is reserved to persons of princely origin. It is awarded only to royalty with close family ties with the Danish Royal House. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order. Vilhelm Evang
Vilhelm Andreas Wexelsen Evang (9 November 1909 – 5 January 1983) was a Norwegian military officer. He headed the military intelligence in Norway for almost twenty years, from 1946 to 1965. Personal life Evang was born in Aker as the son of Jens Ingolf Evang and Anna Beate Wexelsen. He grew up in Kristiania, and married Lisbeth Broch in 1938. He was a brother of civil servant Karl Evang. Career Early career Evang finished his examen artium in 1927, and started studying natural sciences at the University of Oslo. As a student, Evang was a member of the radical left-wing organization Mot Dag, and as such in opposition to military service. He contributed to the encyclopaedia project Arbeidernes Leksikon in the 1930s, writing articles on geography and natural science. He later became a member of the Norwegian Labour Party.
