Jofre De Foixà
Jofre de Foixà (or Jaufre de Foixa) (died c. 1300) was a troubadour from Foixà in the Empordà, the second son of Bernard of Foixà. At a young age Jofre became a Franciscan and appears in that position when mentioned for the first time at Monzón in 1267. In 1275 he put off the Franciscan habit for the black cowl of the Benedictines, almost certainly at the monastery of Sant Feliu de Guíxols. When the French under Philip III invaded Catalonia as part of the Aragonese Crusade, king Peter III nominated Jofre procurator of the monastery of Sant Pere de Galligants and trusted to him many important missions. In 1293 he was in Sicily as abbot of San Giovanni degli Eremiti in Palermo. There he enjoyed the favour of both James II of Aragon and Frederick II. The last time Jofre is mentioned is in 1295. Jofré Llançol i Escrivà, (c. 1390 - 1436/37), also known as Jofré de Borja y Escrivà and Jofré de Borja y Doms, was a Spanish noble from Xàtiva, Kingdom of Valencia. He was related by marriage to the Borgia family. He was an uncle of Cardinal Luis Juan del Milà and the father of Pope Alexander VI. Biography Jofré Llançol i Escrivà was born in Xàtiva, Kingdom of Valencia, Crown of Aragon, around 1390. He was head of the branch of the House of Borgia that resided on Ventres Street in Xàtiva. He was the son of Rodrigo Gil de Borja y Fennolet, Jurado del Estamento Militar de Xàtiva, and his wife, Sibilia de Escrivà y Pròixita. Jofré died in either 1436 or 1437, in Valencia. Jofre Mateu González (born 24 January 1980), known simply as Jofre, is a Spanish retired professional footballer who played as a left midfielder. He amassed Segunda División totals of 332 games and 28 goals over 11 seasons, in representation of six clubs. In La Liga, he appeared for Barcelona, Levante, Espanyol and Murcia. Juan Pablo Jofre (also known as J.P. Jofre) (born 1983) is an Argentinian musician, composer, and arranger. He plays the bandoneon. Life J.P. Jofre was raised in San Juan, Argentina. He attended San Juan's Escuela de Música. He primarily was a drummer, and also studied the vibraphone, bassoon, piano, singing and double bass. He played in a heavy metal band. When he was seventeen, his uncle played a record for him by Astor Piazzolla and Jofre fell in love with the sound and style of the bandoneon. In 2002 or 2003, he relocated to New York City with his mother and brother. His brother, who is deaf, struggled to find decent education in Argentina, but succeeded in finding it in New York, hence the relocation. He lives and works in Harlem in New York City.
