Joey Van Zegeren
Johan Willem van Zegeren (born 7 December 1990) is a Dutch basketball player for CB San Pablo Burgos of the LEB Oro and the Netherlands national basketball team. Early career Born in Gweru, Zimbabwe, he moved to the Netherlands when he was 8 and grew up in Hoogeveen, Drenthe. After playing in the youth program of Rotterdam Basketbal and made his debut for the first team in the Dutch Basketball League in the 2009–10 season, playing 9 games. He later moved to Spain to play in the Canarias Basketball Academy program. College career Van Zegeren played four seasons with Virginia Tech. As a redshirt junior, he averaged 9.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, but was dismissed from the team in January 2015. For his final season of eligibility, van Zegeren transferred to Northwestern. He averaged 3.6 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, suffering a season-ending knee injury in March 2015. The Virginia Tech Hokies men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Home games are played at Cassell Coliseum, located on Virginia Tech's campus in Blacksburg, Virginia, Blacksburg. The Hokies have made the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship, NCAA tournament 13 times, the most recent appearance coming in 2022. With the cancellation of the 2020 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament due to COVID-19, the Hokies have made five straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament. The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. The league began in 1960 as the ''Eredivisie'' and was organized by the NBB and later the FEB. In 1977 the league introduced play-offs.
