Joel Stroetzel
Joel Michael Stroetzel (born July 24, 1980) is best known as the rhythm guitarist from the Massachusetts metalcore band Killswitch Engage. Background Stroetzel attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston but did not graduate. Stroetzel's guitar style is influenced by the bands Slayer, Anthrax (American band), Anthrax, Zakk Wylde, as stated on the World Ablaze DVD. Career While at college, Stroetzel began playing in the band Aftershock (band), Aftershock. The band broke up in 1999, when Joel formed Killswitch Engage with co-guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz. Joel plays the guitar solo in the track "Holy Diver (song), Holy Diver" and is seen occasionally singing during live renditions of "The End of Heartache". Stroetzel has also performed with the band Times of Grace as a touring musician. Metalcore
Metalcore (also known as metallic hardcore) is a fusion music genre that combines elements of extreme metal and hardcore punk. As with other styles blending metal and hardcore, such as crust punk and grindcore, metalcore is noted for its use of breakdowns, slow, intense passages conducive to moshing. Other defining instrumental qualities include heavy riffs and stop-start rhythm guitar playing, occasional blast beats, and double bass drumming. Vocalists in the genre typically use thrash or scream vocals. Some later metalcore bands combine this with clean singing, often during the chorus. Marshall is a British company that designs and manufactures music amplifiers, speaker cabinets, brands personal headphones and earphones, drums and bongos. The company also owns a record label called Marshall Records. It was founded in London by drum shop owner and drummer, Jim Marshall, and is now based in Bletchley, Milton Keynes, England. Celestion is a British designer and exporter of professional loudspeakers. History Origins What became Celestion was started in Hampton Wick (suburban London) in 1924. ''Cyril French'' and his three brothers had taken over a plating works and established the ''Electrical Manufacturing and Plating Company''. They were listed as "electrical instrument manufacturers". Fishman (established 1981) is an American company based in Andover, Massachusetts. They are known for making guitar pickups and other guitar related equipment. They have been known for specializing in producing equipment involved in the amplification of acoustic guitars and other stringed instruments. History In 1980 Larry Fishman made a prototype acoustic pickup in his basement. By 1981 Fishman had taken orders for pickups from the Guild Guitar Company. In 1982 the C.F. Martin Guitar Company called to order Fishman pickups. With the Martin order, the Fishman company rented a larger manufacturing space. Tony Iommi
Anthony Frank Iommi () (born 19 February 1948) is a British musician. He co-founded the pioneering heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and was the band's guitarist, leader and primary composer and sole continuous member for nearly five decades. Laney Amplification is a British designer and manufacturer of guitar amplifiers, bass guitar amplifiers, cabinets, and public address systems. Laney Amplification does not sell directly to the public, instead dealing with distributors and retailers. History Laney Amplification was founded in 1967 by Lyndon Laney while playing bass guitar in Band of Joy. Lyndon's intense interest in electronics, paired with his lack of funds to purchase a proper amplifier, led to his building what would become the first Laney amp in his father's garage. As word spread of the tone supplied by Lyndon's amplifiers, he was able to supplement his income with amp sales to many local musicians, including Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. Peavey 5150
The Peavey 5150 is a vacuum tube based guitar amplifier made by Peavey Electronics from 1992 on. The amplifier was initially created as a signature model for Eddie Van Halen. After Van Halen and Peavey parted ways in 2004, the name was changed to Peavey 6505. The 5150 name was used again by Van Halen in partnership with Fender under the EVH brand. Peavey's amplifier was renamed to 6505 in celebration of Peavey's 40th anniversary (1965–2005).
