Joel Kribel
Joel Kribel (born January 27, 1977) is a former American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Web.com Tour, PGA Tour Canada, and Gateway Tour. Amateur career Kribel was born in Pleasanton, California. As a junior golfer, Kribel was a member of the Castlewood Country Club Junior Golf Program, a program that produced several professional golfers including Paula Creamer, Dana Dormann, Pat Hurst, and Todd Fischer. He attended Amador Valley High School, won two NCGA Northern California High School Boys Individual Championships, and went on to play his collegiate golf at Stanford University where he was a teammate of Tiger Woods. At Stanford, Kribel was a 4-time NCAA All-American, was named 1st team all Pac-10 Conference four times, and was Pac-10 Player of the Year in 1999. Pleasanton is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. Located in the Amador Valley, it is a suburb in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. 1997 Walker Cup
The 1997 Walker Cup, the 36th Walker Cup Match, was played on August 9 and 10, 1997, at Quaker Ridge Golf Club in Scarsdale, New York. The event was won by the United States 18 to 6. Format The format for play on Saturday and Sunday was the same. There were four matches of foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon. In all, 24 matches were played. Each of the 24 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match is all square after the 18th hole extra holes are not played. Rather, each side earns ½ a point toward their team total. The team that accumulates at least 12½ points wins the competition. If the two teams are tied, the previous winner retains the trophy. Cliff Kresge
Clifford Terry Kresge (born October 3, 1968) is an American professional golfer. He has played on the PGA Tour and Web.com Tour since 1997. Kresge was born in Lakewood Township, New Jersey. His parents moved to central Florida in 1972 and lived on the Dubsdread Golf Course in Orlando where he took golf at age 8. He graduated from the University of Central Florida with a liberal arts degree in 1991 and turned professional. He played mainly on mini-tours until 1997 when he joined the Nationwide Tour. Kresge has three wins on the Nationwide Tour. His best finishes on the PGA Tour are a pair of T-3 at the 2002 B.C. Open and the 2008 Arnold Palmer Invitational (an event he grew up attending after his family moved to Orlando, Florida). He also finished tied for 10th in the 2003 U.S. Open. Steve Ford (golfer)
Stephen Paul Ford (born 15 August 1965 in Cardiff) was a Welsh international rugby union winger. After being banned from rugby union for an act of professionalism, he was eventually allowed back into the sport and went on to represent the Wales national team. He played club rugby for Cardiff. Rugby career Club career Steve Ford played rugby as a schoolboy representing Llanrumney High School before joining Rumney RFC. In April 1985, Ford made his debut for Cardiff. Brian Claar
Brian J. Claar (born July 29, 1959) is an American professional golfer. Early life Claar was born in Santa Monica, California. He played college golf at the University of Tampa where he was a two-time All-American. He was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 1989. Professional career Claar turned professional in 1981. He played on the PGA Tour from 1986 to 1998. He was selected as the PGA Rookie of the Year in 1986. His best finish was a T-2 at the 1991 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He then played primarily on the Nationwide Tour from 1999 to 2002. John Deere Classic
The John Deere Classic is a professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour. It is played annually in July, usually the week before The Open Championship, at TPC Deere Run in the Quad Cities community of Silvis, Illinois. History The tournament began as the Quad Cities Open in 1971 and was a "satellite event" on the PGA Tour. It became an official tour event in 1972. Qualifying School
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it.
