Joel Gisler
Joel Gisler (born 25 February 1994 in Bürglen) is a Swiss freestyle skier, specializing in halfpipe. Gisler competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Switzerland. He placed 18th in the qualifying round in the halfpipe, failing to advance. Gisler made his World Cup debut in March 2011. As of April 2014, his best World Cup finish is 16th, at Sierra Nevada in 2012–13. His best World Cup overall finish in halfpipe is 34th, in 2010–11. Vinko Bogataj (Slovenian: ; born on March 4, 1948) is a Slovenian painter and former ski jumper. Footage of him crashing featured on ABC's '' Wide World of Sports'' represented the Agony of Defeat.. Retrieved on 2011-04-11. ''Agony of Defeat'' jump Bogataj competed as a Yugoslav entrant at the ski flying event in Oberstdorf, West Germany on 7 March 1970. A light snow had begun falling at the start of the competition, and by the time Bogataj was ready for his third jump on the Heini Klopfer hill, the snow had become quite heavy. Midway down the inrun for his jump, Bogataj realised that the conditions had made the ramp too fast. He attempted to lower his center of gravity and slow his jump, but instead lost his balance completely and hurtled out of control off the end of the inrun, tumbling and flipping wildly, and crashing through a light retaining fence near a crowd of spectators before coming to a halt. FIS Freestyle Skiing World Cup
The FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup is an annual freestyle skiing competition arranged by the International Ski Federation since 1980. Currently six disciplines are included in world cup: moguls, aerials, ski cross, halfpipe, slopestyle and big air. In the 1980s and 1990s there were also ski ballet and combined, which no longer exist. Races are hosted primarily at ski resorts in North America, the Alps in Europe, with regular stops in Scandinavia, east Asia, but a few races have also been held in the Southern Hemisphere.
