Joel Farrell
Joel Farrell (born 15 March 1994) is a Jamaican professional rugby league footballer who plays as a forward for the Sheffield Eagles in the Betfred Championship and Jamaica at international level. Farrell is a Jamaican international. He has previously spent time on loan at the Gateshead Thunder in the Kingstone Press League 1 competition. In 2019 he helped the Eagles to win the inaugural 1895 Cup as they defeated Widnes Vikings 36–18 in the final; Farrell scored a try to level the game at 18–18. Dewsbury Rams
The Dewsbury Rams are a professional English rugby league club based in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire that compete in the Championship. They play their home games at the Tetley's Stadium, on Owl Lane. The Rams' main fanbase comes from their hometown of Dewsbury, but they also hold a strong following in Shaw Cross as well as in neighbouring Gawthorpe and Ossett, among other places. Prior to the 1997 season, the club was known as Dewsbury R.L.F.C. The club won their sole league title in 1972–73, after finishing the regular season in 8th place. The club has also won the Challenge Cup twice. The Widnes Vikings are an English rugby league club in Widnes, Cheshire, which competes in the Betfred Championship. The club plays home matches at the Halton Stadium. Founded as Widnes Football Club, they are one of the original twenty-two rugby clubs that formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. The Newcastle Thunder are a professional rugby league club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. They play in the Betfred Championship competition, the second tier of rugby league in the United Kingdom. They play their home matches at Kingston Park, also home to rugby union side Newcastle Falcons. The club was known as Gateshead Thunder until 2015. History The club was formerly known as Gateshead Thunder, and played their home games at Gateshead International Stadium in Gateshead. The 1895 Cup is a British rugby league competition for clubs in the Rugby League Championships. History There have been many cup competitions for the lower leagues of rugby league. In 2002 the Championship Cup was founded for Championship (rugby league), Championship and League 1 (rugby league), League 1 clubs to compete in along with the Challenge Cup, with the aim to give the lower league clubs a competition they can realistically win. The Championship Cup folded in 2013 in anticipation for the 2015 league restructuring. There was no replacement for Championship clubs, though the League 1 Cup ran from 2015-2017 for teams from that league. In late 2018 a new cup competition, named in honour of the founding of the Northern Union in 1895, was put to the Championship and League 1 clubs.
