Joe Rogers (politician)
Joseph Bernard Rogers (July 8, 1964 – October 7, 2013) was an American politician served as the 45th Lieutenant Governor of Colorado from 1999 to 2003. Early life and education Rogers was born on July 8, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska to Joe Louis Rogers and Lola Marie Rogers. He later moved with his family to Colorado, and was raised in Commerce City. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado State University and Juris Doctor from the Arizona State University College of Law. Rogers was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Career As an attorney, Rogers practiced law in Colorado and served as staff counsel to U.S. Senator Hank Brown. In 1996, Rogers ran for Colorado's 1st congressional district as a Republican, gaining 42% of the vote. In 1998, he was elected the second black lieutenant governor of Colorado after George L. Lieutenant Governor Of Colorado
The lieutenant governor of Colorado is the second-highest-ranking member of the executive department of the Government of Colorado, United States, below the governor of Colorado. The lieutenant governor of Colorado, who acts as governor of Colorado in the absence of the officeholder and succeeds to the governorship in case of vacancy, is elected on a partisan ticket. After the 1966 general election, the Constitution of Colorado was amended to require the joint election of governor and lieutenant governor — candidates running as a ticket. Prior to this amendment, the lieutenant governor candidate was elected separately from the governor during the same election—sometimes resulting in a governor and a lieutenant governor from different political parties. Hank Brown
George Hanks "Hank" Brown (born February 12, 1940) is an American politician and lawyer from Colorado. He is a former Republican politician and U.S. Senator. He served as the 21st president of the University of Colorado system from April 2005 to January 2008. Education Brown was born in Denver in 1940, and graduated from college in 1961 and from law school in 1969, both from the University of Colorado. Brown also has a Master of Laws degree from George Washington University. At the former, he became a member of Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity. Career Military Brown served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. He was an aviator and volunteered for service in Vietnam. Robert Louis Beauprez (; born September 22, 1948) is an American politician and member of the Republican Party from the state of Colorado. Beauprez is a Colorado native and graduate of the University of Colorado Boulder. He worked as a dairy farmer and community banker before serving as chairman of the Colorado Republican Party from 1999 to 2002. He was then elected to represent Colorado's 7th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, and served from 2003 to 2007. He gave up his seat to run for Governor of Colorado in the 2006 election but lost to Democratic nominee Bill Ritter. The 2002 Colorado gubernatorial election was held on November 5, 2002 to elect the governor of Colorado. Bill Owens, the Republican incumbent, defeated Democratic nominee Rollie Heath to win a second term.
