Joseph Pérez (14 January 1931 8 October 2020) was a French historian specializing in Spanish history. Pérez specialized in the births of the modern Spanish state and the Latin American nations. Among his books, he examined the independence movements of Hispanic America; Ferdinand and Isabella, the Catholic Monarchs; Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, and Philip II of Spain. Biography Joseph Pérez was born in Laroque-d'Olmes in the Ariège department, which is in the south of France near the Spanish border. His parents were Spaniards who emigrated from Bocairent in Valencia. In 1955, he was named a lecturer of Spanish by the Superior University of Saint-Cloud. He completed his doctoral thesis in 1970. His thesis studied the Revolt of the Comuneros, and remains one of the leading scholarly books on the topics. Joseph Perez (born 1969 in Moses Lake, Washington) is an American writer in the fields of spirituality and Integral theory. Life Born as Joseph Perez in 1969 in Moses Lake Washington, Perez attended public schools until beginning his academic career at Harvard University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in The Comparative Study of Religion with Philosophy as Allied Field in 1991. Subsequently, he attended The Divinity School at The University of Chicago. Perez is an openly gay man, having come out during his senior year at Harvard. Joseph Perez (born August 12, 1999) is an American professional baseball third baseman in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He has previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Houston Astros. Amateur career Perez attended Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, Florida. As a senior, he hit .526 with nine home runs and 37 runs batted in (RBIs) and went 4–0 with a 1.88 earned run average (ERA) and 40 strikeouts as a pitcher. He was drafted by the Houston Astros in the second round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. He signed, forgoing his commitment to play college baseball at the University of Miami.
