Joe McLeland (born July 27, 1946) is a former Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 94th district. He served from 2001 to 2013. In 2010, the Kansas Chapter of Americans for Prosperity gave him a freedom index score of 72%. In 2010, it gave him a 100% evaluation on conservative issues. McLeland, who has his BS in Mathematics from Fort Hays State University, has worked as a computer network analyst. Mario Goico (born July 24, 1945) is a former Republican member of the Kansas House of Representatives who represented Wichita, Kansas. Goico represented the 100th district from 2003 to 2013, and the 94th district from 2013 to 2017. Goico was first elected in 2002 but did not run for reelection in 2016. Fort Hays State University (FHSU) is a public university in Hays, Kansas. It is the fourth-largest of the six state universities governed by the Kansas Board of Regents, with a total enrollment of approximately 15,100 students. History FHSU was founded in 1902 as the Western Branch of Kansas State Normal School, which is now known as Emporia State University. The institution was originally located on the grounds of Fort Hays, a frontier military outpost that was closed in 1889. The university served the early settlers' needs for educational facilities in the new region. The first building closer to Hays was completed in 1904, at which time the university moved to its present location.
