Joe Klecker
Joe Klecker (born November 16, 1996) is an American distance runner. He finished 2nd in the NCAA DI XC Championships in 2019 and turned pro with On Running, coached by Dathan Ritzenhein in 2020. Klecker holds PRs of 3:37.55 for 1500m, 7:39.18 for 3000m, 12:54.99 for 5000m, and 27:07.57 for 10000m, all of which were set in his Professional Career. Klecker attended Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota. He graduated in 2015 and attended the University of Colorado in the Fall. At Colorado, he was a 9-time All-American in all 3 running sports including 2 runner-up finishes. He is currently the school's record holder in the indoor 5000m. Barney Klecker
Barney Klecker (born August 25, 1951) is the United States former record holder for the 50 mile ultramarathon, finishing with a time of four hours fifty one minutes and twenty five seconds. This record was set on October 5, 1980, at the AMJA Ultramarathon in Chicago, Illinois. Klecker is a two-time champion of the City of Lakes Marathon/Twin Cities Marathon (1977, 1979) and the Edmund Fitzgerald 100 km (1982, 1986). He was also the winner of the first two runnings of the Tallahassee Ultradistance Classic (1982, 1983). Klecker won the 1978 Grandma's Marathon (2 hours 18 minutes and 42 seconds). Klecker married Janis Horns, another runner from Minnesota who later competed in the marathon at the 1992 Summer Olympics as Janis Klecker. 3000 Meters
The 3000 metres or 3000-metre run is a track running event, also commonly known as the "3K" or "3K run", where 7.5 laps are run around an outdoor 400 m track, or 15 laps around a 200 m indoor track. It is debated whether the 3000m should be classified as a middle-distance or long-distance event. In elite-level competition, 3000 m pace is more comparable to the pace found in the longer 5000 metres event, rather than mile pace. The world record performance for 3000 m equates to a pace of 58.76 seconds per 400 m, which is closer to the 60.43 seconds for 5000 m than the 55.46 seconds for the mile. However, the 3000 m does require some anaerobic conditioning, and an elite athlete needs to develop a high tolerance to lactic acid, as does the mile runner. San Juan Capistrano, California
