Joe Kendall (American Football)
Joseph Nathaniel Kendall (October 2, 1909 – November 25, 1965) was an American gridiron football player, best known for playing college football for the Kentucky State Industrial College for Colored Persons (now Kentucky State University) in the mid-1930s. Nicknamed "Tarzan" for his athletic prowess, he was inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2007. Biography Kendall was born in Owensboro, Kentucky, in 1909, and attended high school there. A dominant figure in black college football in the 1930s, Kendall first played for West Kentucky Industrial College, a junior college, during the 1932 season. He then played for the Kentucky State Thorobreds during the 1933–1936 seasons. His nickname of " Tarzan" appeared in print by October 1934. While Kendall played as a halfback, football of the era included much more passing by halfbacks than in modern collegiate or professional football; various newspaper reports of the era highlighted Kendall's skill as a passer. Walter Augustus Kendall also known as Joe Kendall (1882–1958) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1900s and 1910s. He played for North Sydney in the NSWRL competition and was a foundation player of the club. Background Kendall was born in St Leonards, New South Wales on 26 April 1882. Playing career Kendall played in North Sydney's first ever game against South Sydney on April 20, 1908, at Birchgrove Oval. Kendall played representative football with Australia in 1909 featuring in 1 game. Kendall also played 1 game for Metropolis in 1908. Elton Joe Kendall (born 1954) is a former United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Education and career Born in Dallas, Texas, Kendall was a police officer in the Dallas Police Department from 1972 to 1978. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University in 1977 and a Juris Doctor from Baylor University School of Law in 1980. He was an assistant district attorney of Dallas County, Texas from 1980 to 1982, thereafter entering private practice in Dallas until 1986. Judicial career Kendall was a judge on the 195th Texas State District Court from 1987 to 1992. On March 20, 1992, Kendall was nominated by President George H. W. Josephine Mary Kendall ( Robinson, 17 February 1940 – 29 January 2022) was a British actress and writer. She was known for her work on the BBC radio comedy show ''I'm Sorry, I'll Read That Again'', which debuted in 1964, and for her role as Peggy Skilbeck on the ITV soap opera ''Emmerdale'' (then ''Emmerdale Farm'') from 1972 to 1973, in which she also spoke the programme's first line of dialogue in the inaugural episode. Early life Kendall was born Josephine Mary Robinson in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, on 17 February 1940.
