Joe Halliwell
Joseph Adam Halliwell (17 January 1892 – July quarter 1964) was an English professional footballer who played as a centre forward. He started his senior career with Preston North End and scored 10 goals in 22 league matches during the 1912–13 season as the team won the Football League Second Division. After making four further appearances for Preston at the start of the following campaign, Halliwell transferred to Barnsley in December 1913. He remained at Oakwell for 14 years and played 312 league games for the club, scoring 83 goals. In June 1927, Halliwell joined Third Division North side Nelson on a free transfer. During his time at Nelson he played predominantly as a right-half. He made his debut for the club on 27 August 1927 in the 1–4 home defeat to Accrington Stanley and went on to play every first-team match in that season. Preston () is a city on the north bank of the River Ribble in Lancashire, England. Barrowford
Barrowford () is a large village and civil parish in the Pendle district of Lancashire, England. It is situated to the north of Nelson on the other side of the M65 motorway, and forms part of the Nelson conurbation. It also comprises the area of Lowerford (not to be confused with its neighbour Higherford). The parish has a population of 6,171. The community is located near the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty while the Borough of Pendle is at the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Barrowford is situated on the Nelson, Lancashire, Marsden–Gisburn–Long Preston Turnpike trust, turnpike. Non-League football describes football leagues played outside the top leagues of a country. Usually, it describes leagues which are not fully professional. The term is primarily used for football in England, where it is specifically used to describe all football played at levels below those of the Premier League (20 clubs) and the three divisions of the English Football League (EFL; 72 clubs). Currently, a non-League team would be any club playing in the National League or below that level. Typically, non-League clubs are either semi-professional or amateur in status, although the majority of clubs in the National League are fully professional, some of which are former EFL clubs who have suffered relegation.
