Joe Fagin
Joe Fagin (born January 1940) is a British pop singer-songwriter. He is best known for the 1984 chart hit "Breakin' Away / That's Livin' Alright", and for singing a version of " As Time Goes By" for the 1990s BBC comedy series of the same name starring Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. Biography Fagin was musical director for Jim Davidson, including his 1983 Falklands tour. "Breakin' Away" / "That's Livin' Alright", the opening and closing theme songs to the first series of the comedy-drama ''Auf Wiedersehen, Pet'', which as a double A-side reached number 3 in the UK Singles Chart in January 1984. In 1982, he had his only U.S. Billboard Hot 100 charting single, "Younger Days". It peaked as high as No. 80 on the Billboard Hot 100, and was released as a single in the States on Millennium Records. Breakin' Away / That's Livin' Alright
"Breakin' Away" / "That's Livin' Alright" is a double A-side single by English singer Joe Fagin. The songs were produced and arranged by David Mackay. Mackay co-wrote "Breakin' Away" with Ian La Frenais, and "That's Livin' Alright" with Ken Ashby. They wrote the songs as the opening and closing theme music for ''Auf Wiedersehen, Pet'', an English television comedy-drama that premiered in 1983. Ian La Frenais co-wrote ''Auf Wiedersehen, Pet'' with Dick Clement. "That's Livin' Alright" peaked at #3 on the UK Singles Chart in January 1984. Later that year, Friends Records (Netherlands) and Mariann Grammofon (Sweden) reissued "That's Livin' Alright" as the A-side of a 7" single called "That's Living Alright". Charity Single
A charity record or charity single is a song released by musicians with most or all proceeds raised going to a dedicated foundation or charity. George Harrison's " Bangla Desh" single in 1971 is commonly acknowledged as the first ever purpose-made charity single – in this case to help fund relief efforts following the 1970 Bhola cyclone and the Bangladesh Liberation War. The money raised was donated to UNICEF, as were takings from Harrison's all-star charity concert (again, the first of its kind) held at Madison Square Garden, New York, and its spin-off live album and concert film. This is one way of using artistic talent as art for charity. Some of the other early charity records came from the January 1979 Music for UNICEF Concert, with the likes of ABBA's "Chiquitita" and the Bee Gees' "Too Much Heaven" released as singles, all the royalties from which went to UNICEF. "World at Your Feet" is a song by English rock band Embrace from the re-released version of their fifth studio album, ''This New Day'' (2006). It was the official song of the England World Cup squad in the 2006 FIFA World Cup campaign, and was released on 5 June 2006. Singer Danny McNamara told the NME: "We didn't apply to do this. They just asked us. Our manager said, 'Do you want to do the World Cup song? The FA want to know.' I asked my dad and he said, 'if you think you're up to it-do it!' I was just trying to cover all the bases." It was broadcast on Radio 1 on 21 April by Chris Moyles. A news reporter on BBC One was in a Bristol pub at the time and had several people listen and review the song. The first impressions were that the song is "too slow". Embrace are an English rock band formed in Bailiff Bridge, West Yorkshire, England, in 1990. The band consists of brothers singer Danny McNamara and guitarist Richard McNamara, bassist Steve Firth, keyboardist Mickey Dale, and drummer Mike Heaton. The 2006 FIFA World Cup, also branded as Germany 2006, was the 18th FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international football world championship tournament. It was held from 9 June to 9 July 2006 in Germany, which had won the right to host the event in July 2000. Teams representing 198 national football associations from all six populated continents participated in the qualification process which began in September 2003. Thirty-one teams qualified from this process along with hosts Germany for the finals tournament. "She's Leaving Home" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, and released on their 1967 album '' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band''. The Bradford City stadium fire occurred during a Football League Third Division match on Saturday, 11 May 1985 at the Valley Parade stadium in Bradford, West Yorkshire, England, killing 56 spectators and injuring at least 265. The stadium was known for its antiquated design and facilities, which included the wooden roof of the main stand. Previous warnings had also been given about a major build-up of litter in the cavity below the seats in the stand. The stand had been officially condemned and was due to be replaced with a steel structure after the season ended.
