Joseph Davies (born 1870; date of death unknown) was a Welsh international footballer who played as an inside right. Career Early career Born in Chirk in Wales, Davies worked as a miner whilst playing for his hometown club of Chirk. Everton & league debut Joe Davies made his League Debut on 1 December 1888 at Anfield, Liverpool against West Bromwich Albion. Davies was at outside-right. The first half was pretty much one-way traffic and although Everton had some attacks West Bromwich Albion dominated putting three past Everton goalkeeper Robert Smalley before half-time. Half-time: Everton 0–3 West Bromwich Albion. Everton hoped to lead a revival in the second half but suffered two major setbacks. Chirk
Chirk ( cy, Y Waun) is a town and community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales, south of Wrexham, between it and Oswestry. At the 2011 census, it had a population of 4,468. Historically in the traditional county of Denbighshire, and later Clwyd, it has been part of Wrexham County Borough since a local government reorganisation in 1996. The border with the English county of Shropshire is immediately south of the town, on the other side of the River Ceiriog. The town is served by Chirk railway station and the A5/A483 roads. Edgar Chadwick
Edgar Wallace Chadwick (14 June 1869 – 14 February 1942) was a left-sided footballer who had a long and distinguished career with Everton during the 1890s. He was also the national coach for the Netherlands from 1908 to 1913. His cousin, Arthur Chadwick, also played for England and Southampton, while another cousin, Albert Chadwick, played for Everton. Playing career Early career Born in Blackburn, he started his career at 15 with Little Dots FC, before signing as a professional with Blackburn Olympic in 1886. After one season at Olympic, he then joined Blackburn Rovers where he spent the 1887–88 season before signing for Everton in July 1888. Wrexham
Wrexham ( ; cy, Wrecsam; ) is a city and the administrative centre of Wrexham County Borough in Wales. It is located between the Welsh mountains and the lower Dee Valley, near the border with Cheshire in England. Bob Hill (footballer)
Robert Hill (3 July 1867 – 3 October 1938) was a Scottish footballer who played primarily as a centre or inside forward. Born in Forfar, Scotland, Hill began his football career when he was a soldier and was spotted playing for his regimental team, Black Watch. After a brief spell at Glentoran, it was Irish League rivals Linfield who bought him out of his army contract and took him on as a player. Hill spent three successful seasons with the Belfast club, winning two Irish Cup and two League Champions medals with them. On February 1893, Hill arrived at Sheffield United, scoring on his debut as a trialist and prompting United to sign him permanently. He soon established himself in United's first team and played in the 1893 test–match victory that saw them promoted to the First Division. Hugh Morris (Welsh Footballer)
Hugh Morris (1872 – 20 September 1897) was a Welsh footballer who played as a forward for Manchester City, Sheffield United and Grimsby Town in the 19th century. Born in Chirk, Wales, he gained three caps for the Welsh national team. Career Club career Morris was first spotted by Ardwick when playing for Chirk in the Welsh cup and the Manchester side duly signed him in 1891. Morris was the leading goalscorer for the club in the 1891–92 Football Alliance season, scoring 10 goals in 22 appearances, including a hat-trick against Walsall Town Swifts. The following season Ardwick were admitted to the newly formed Football League Second Division and Morris played in the club's first ever Football League fixture, scoring twice as Ardwick beat Bootle 7–0.
