Joe Carson (Petticoat Junction)
Joseph P. "Joe" Carson, mainly referred to as Uncle Joe, is a main fictional character on the CBS sitcom, ''Petticoat Junction'' (1963–1970). Uncle Joe is the only character in the series to appear in all 222 episodes. He is portrayed by Edgar Buchanan, who is described as "absolutely perfect in the role," and "the perfect choice to play the loveable codger." Edgar Buchanan
William Edgar Buchanan II (March 20, 1903 – April 4, 1979) was an American actor with a long career in both film and television. He is most familiar today as Uncle Joe Carson from the ''Petticoat Junction'', ''Green Acres'', and ''The Beverly Hillbillies'' television sitcoms of the 1960s. Biography Early life The son of Dr. and Mrs. William Edgar Buchanan, he was born in Humansville, Missouri, and moved with his family to Oregon when he was seven. In 1928, he earned a DDS degree from North Pacific College School of Dentistry, which later became Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry. Rufe Davis
Rufus Davidson (December 2, 1908 – December 13, 1974), known as Rufe Davis, was an American actor. He appeared in over 30 films between 1937 and 1969, including 14 of the Three Mesquiteers titles. Davis played railroad conductor Floyd Smoot on the CBS television series ''Petticoat Junction'' from 1963–1968 and in 1970 guest appearances. Early life Davis was raised on a farm in Vinson, Oklahoma. He was one of 12 children. The ''Hooterville Cannonball'' is a fictional railroad train featured in ''Petticoat Junction'', an American situation comedy that originally aired on CBS from 1963 to 1970. Beatrice Benaderet ( ; April 4, 1906 – October 13, 1968) was an American actress and comedienne. Born in New York City and raised in San Francisco, she began performing in Bay Area theatre and radio before embarking on a Hollywood career that spanned over three decades. Benaderet first specialized in voice-over work in the golden age of radio, appearing on numerous programs while working with comedians of the era such as Jack Benny, Burns and Allen, and Lucille Ball. Her expertise in dialect and characterization led to her becoming Warner Bros. Cartoons' leading voice of female characters in their animated cartoons of the early 1940s through the mid-1950s.
