Joe Beverley
Joseph Beverley (12 November 1856 – 21 May 1897) was an FA Cup-winning English footballer who played for Blackburn Olympic and Blackburn Rovers, as well as the England national side. Career Club Beverley started out with James Street and stayed with them when they merged with Black Star to form Blackburn Olympic. He moved to Blackburn Rovers in October 1882, winning the FA Cup in 1884. He then returned to Olympic before once again transferring to play for Rovers in 1887, meaning he was part of the squad that entered the first year of the Football League in 1888-89, after which he drew a close to his footballing career. 1888-1889 Joe Beverley made his League debut on 15 September 1888, as a full-back, at Leamington Road, then home of Blackburn Rovers, against Accrington. Blackburn () is an industrial town and the administrative centre of the Blackburn with Darwen borough in Lancashire, England. Johnny Graham (footballer, Born 1857)
John Graham (23 February 1857 – 23 February 1927) was a Scottish professional footballer of the 1880s. He was a player for Preston North End from 1884 until 27 March 1890 when he retired because of an injury. He was a member of 'the invincibles'. Career Toughened by his job as a quarryman, Graham initially played with Annbank in the Ayrshire Football Combination, and won one cap for the Scotland national football team in 1884; his appearance was in Scotland'a first–ever British Home Championship match, played on 26 January 1884 at the Ulster Cricket Ground against Ireland – Scotland won 5–0. Graham is the only serving Annbank player to have been selected for international duty. He joined Preston North End in season 1884–85 (moving to England discounted him from further Scotland caps at that time), and played in the 1888 FA Cup Final against West Bromwich Albion at Kennington Oval on 24 March 1888. Thomas Midgley (footballer)
Thomas Midgley (1856 - 1957) was an English professional footballer who played in League football, as an inside forward, for Burnley. Born in Leeds, West Yorkshire, Midgley became a teacher and worked in Culham, Oxford and Ripon before being appointed as head at Grant's School, Burnley in the late 1870s. As early as 1880 at Carlton Road School he had children playing Association Football. Midgley was a founder member of the Burnley Rovers Rugby club and its first captain. Midgley encouraged Burnley Rovers to change codes to association football in May 1882 and changed their name to Burnley. He represented the club in many of the early friendly matches, but by the time the Football League was formed in 1888, Midgley was nearing the end of his career as a footballer.
