Joaquín Soriano
Joaquín Soriano (born in León, 1941) is a Spanish pianist. Trained in Valencia, he was a disciple of Vlado Perlemuter at the Conservatoire National de Paris. He won the 1965 Viotti Competition in Vercelli and the XI Premio de Jaén (1966); an international concert career ensued. Soriano holds a professorship at the Madrid Conservatory since 1972 and is the José Iturbi Competition's artistic director. He is a member of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando since 1988, and has been decorated with the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes and the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Vlado Perlemuter
Vladislas "Vlado" Perlemuter (26 May 1904 – 4 September 2002) was a Lithuanian-born French pianist and teacher. Biography Vladislas (Vlado) Perlemuter was born to a Polish Jewish family, the third of four sons, in Kovno, Russia (now Kaunas in Lithuania). At the age of three, he lost the use of his left eye in an accident. His family settled in France in 1907. In 1915, aged just 10, he was accepted by the Paris Conservatoire de Paris, Conservatoire, studying first with Moritz Moszkowski (1915–17) and later with Alfred Cortot. At 15, he graduated from the Conservatoire, where he won the First Prize playing Gabriel Fauré’s ''Thème et variations'' before the composer, although Fauré was already deafness, deaf by that time. Perlemuter got to know Fauré rather well, living very close to him at the beginning of the 1920s. The Conservatoire de Paris (), or the Paris Conservatory, is a college of music and dance founded in 1795. The Madrid Royal Conservatory () is a music college in Madrid, Spain. History The Royal Conservatory of Music was founded on July 15, 1830, by royal decree, and was originally located in Mostenses Square, Madrid.
