Joaquín Piquerez
Joaquín Piquerez Moreira (born 24 August 1998) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays for Brazilian Série A club Palmeiras and the Uruguay national team. Primarily a left-back, he can also play as a midfielder. Club career On 31 July 2021, Brazilian club Palmeiras announced the signing of Piquerez on a permanent deal until 31 December 2025. International career Piquerez is a former Uruguayan youth international. He was part of national team squads at 2015 South American U-17 Championship and 2019 Pan American Games. In December 2019, he was called up to under-23 national team for 2020 CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament. Piquerez received maiden call-up to senior team on 28 May 2021 for FIFA World Cup qualification matches. However, he got injured the following day and was replaced by Camilo Cándido. 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CONMEBOL)
The South American section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification acted as qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Qatar, for national teams which are members of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). A total of 4.5 slots (4 direct slots and 1 inter-confederation play-off slot) in the final tournament were available for CONMEBOL teams. The qualification process began on 8 October 2020 and ended on 29 March 2022. Uruguay's Luis Suárez scored the first goal of the round-robin. The 2021 Copa CONMEBOL Libertadores was the 62nd edition of the CONMEBOL Libertadores (also referred to as the ''Copa Libertadores''), South America's premier club football tournament organized by CONMEBOL. It is the highest level of competition in South American club football. The 2017 Liga Profesional de Primera División season, also known as the Campeonato Uruguayo 2017, was the 114th season of Uruguay's top-flight football league, and the 87th in which it is professional.
