Joaquín Ferrándiz Ventura
Joaquín Ferrándiz Ventura (born 1963) is an incarcerated Spanish abductor, rapist and (later) serial killer who murdered five women in the Spanish province of Castellón between July 2, 1995, and September 14, 1996. Early life Ferrándiz was born in Valencia, Spain in 1963. He was the first of three siblings. First rape and incarceration Ferrándiz's first crime took place on August 6, 1989, when he deliberately ran over an 18-year-old female motorcyclist named María. The crash was non-fatal, but the victim broke her ankle. Ferrándiz exited his car and approached María, feigning apology and inviting her into his vehicle in order, he claimed, to drive her to the hospital. Once inside, he drove her to an isolated area and raped her, before subsequently abandoning her near the hospital. Ferrándiz was identified by another motorist who had witnessed the collision. The Civil Guard ( es, Guardia Civil, link=no; ) is the oldest law enforcement agency in Spain and is one of two national police forces. Johann "Jack" Unterweger (16 August 1950 – 29 June 1994) was an Austrian serial killer who committed murder in several countries – Austria, West Germany, Czechoslovakia, and the United States. Initially convicted in 1974 of a single murder, Unterweger began to write extensively while in prison. His work gained the attention of the Austrian literary elite, who took it as evidence that he had been rehabilitated. After significant lobbying, Unterweger was released on parole in 1990. Upon his release, he became a minor celebrity and worked as a playwright and journalist, but within months he resumed killing women. Gilberto Antonio Chamba Jaramillo (born 1963) is an Ecuadorian serial killer, convicted of murdering nine people in Ecuador and Spain. Known as The Monster of Machala, he was convicted of several murders in south-west Ecuador, but was released under an amnesty, and moved to Spain where he committed another murder. He was sentenced to 45 years in prison in Spain on November 5, 2006.
