Joan McBride
Joan Leslie McBride (born 1951 or 1952) is an American politician. A Democrat, she was the mayor of Kirkland, Washington, from 2010 to 2013, after which she was elected to the Washington House of Representatives The Washington House of Representatives is the lower house of the Washington State Legislature, and along with the Washington State Senate makes up the legislature of the U.S. state of Washington. Kamyar Cyrus Habib, (born August 22, 1981) is an American Jesuit, politician, lawyer, and educator who served as the 16th Lieutenant Governor of Washington from 2017 to 2021. As of the time of his departure from office, he was the first and only Iranian American official to hold statewide elected office in the United States. He has been fully blind since he lost his eyesight to cancer at age eight. In March 2020, he announced plans to retire from politics and become a Jesuit priest. Early life and education Habib was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to parents who had previously immigrated to the U.S. from Iran.
