Jiřína Adamičková-Pelcová
Jiřina Adamičková-Pelcová (born 22 November 1969) is a retired Czechoslovak, later Czech biathlete. She has participated in three editions of the Winter Olympics (1992, 1994, 1998 1998 was designated as the ''International Year of the Ocean''. Jablonec Nad Nisou
Jablonec nad Nisou (; german: Gablonz an der Neiße) is a city in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 45,000 inhabitants. It is the second-largest city in the region. It is a local centre for education, and is known for its glass and jewelry production. The town centre is well preserved and is protected by law as an urban monument zone. The Biathlon World Cup is a top-level biathlon season-long competition series. It has been held since the winter seasons of 1977–78 Biathlon World Cup, 1977–78 for men and 1982–83 Biathlon World Cup, 1982–83 for women. The women's seasons until 1986–87 Biathlon World Cup, 1986–87 season were called the European Cup, although participation was not restricted to Europeans. Competition and format The World Cup season lasts from November or December to late March, with meetings in a different venue every week excluding some holidays and a couple of weeks before the season's major championships (World Championships or Winter Olympics). 1989–90 Biathlon World Cup
The 1989–90 Biathlon World Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the UIPMB ( Union Internationale de Pentathlon Moderne et Biathlon). The season started on 14 December 1989 in Obertilliach, Austria, and ended on 18 March 1990 in Kontiolahti, Finland. It was the 13th season of the Biathlon World Cup. Originally, the World Championships were to be held in Minsk. However, due to a lack of snow, only the individual competitions could be held, and the team, sprint and relay races were moved to Holmenkollen. This caused the UIPMB to declare the World Championship races as counting towards the World Cup. On the last day in Holmenkollen, the men's relay was cancelled during the last leg due to fog; it was subsequently moved to Kontiolahti. The 1998 Winter Olympics, officially known as the and commonly known as Nagano 1998 ( ja, 長野1998), was a winter multi-sport event held from 7 to 22 February 1998, mainly in Nagano, Japan, with some events taking place in the nearby mountain communities of Hakuba, Karuizawa, Nozawa Onsen, and Yamanouchi.
