Jiuta Wainiqolo
Jiuta Naqoli Wainiqolo (born 10 March 1999) is a Fijians, Fijian rugby union player who currently plays for RC Toulonnais, Toulon in the Top 14, Top 14 competition in France and for the Fiji Rugby Union, Flying Fijians 15s and 7s teams. During the 2020 Summer Olympics, he was a member of Fiji's Rugby sevens at the 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's tournament, Men's Rugby 7s team, which won the gold medal. Early life Jiuta Wainiqolo hails from Namara, Vuda, with maternal links to Vatulele in Nadroga-Navosa Province. His father, Nemia Wainiqolo, played fullback in the 1990s for Nausori Rugby Club. He grew up in the small town of Navua, which is west of the capital city, Suva. The Fiji national rugby union team represents Fiji in men's international rugby union competes every four years at the Rugby World Cup, and their best performances were the 1987 and 2007 tournaments when they defeated Argentina and Wales respectively to reach the quarterfinals. Rugby sevens at the 2016 Summer Olympics was held over six days in August 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. The 2016 Olympics was the debut for rugby sevens at the Summer Olympics, though rugby union was last played at the 1924 games. The usual laws of rugby sevens applied. Gareth Baber
Gareth Baber (born 23 May 1972) is a Welsh former rugby player and now a rugby union coach. He is best known for coaching and leading the Fiji sevens team to win their second gold medal in rugby sevens at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He coached Fiji to their fourth World Sevens Series title. He has won the most tournaments in the world series as coach for the Fiji Islands. During his playing career Baber earned a Blue for Oxford University's rugby team. He also featured at scrum-half for Pontypridd RFC, and featured prominently in Pontypridd's European Shield victory over London Irish in 2001 where he appeared on the wing. Coaching Baber was assistant coach with the Wales national under-20 team. Baber was also academy skills coach at Welsh regional side Cardiff Blues. National Rugby Championship
The National Rugby Championship, known as NRC, was an Australian rugby union competition. It was contested by eight teams, seven from Australia and one from Fiji. The tournament ran from 2014 until 2019 before being disbanded in 2020 following the change of the Australian rugby TV broadcasting deal from Fox Sports, who had funded the competition, to Stan Sport. The 2020 competition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Format The National Rugby Championship was usually held between late August and early November. A round-robin tournament was scheduled first where each team played all others once. The Fiji women's national rugby sevens team represents Fiji at regional and international sevens tournaments. They have won three Pacific Games gold medals, two Oceania Championships, a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games and a bronze medal at the Summer Olympics. The Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Cronulla, in the Sutherland Shire, Southern Sydney, New South Wales. They compete in the National Rugby League (NRL), Australasia's premier rugby league competition. Leicester Ofa Ki Wales Twickenham Fainga'anuku (born 11 October 1999) is a Tongan born New Zealanders, New Zealand rugby union player. His position of choice is Winger (rugby union), wing. Early career Fainga'anuku was educated at Nelson College, where he was captain of the school's top side. His father Ta'u Fainga'anuku played prop for Tonga in the 1999 Rugby World Cup. Deans Trophy
The Deans Trophy is the highest award in the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union. The annual competition was introduced in 1939 and is the oldest tournament in the Fiji rugby union. The trophy was first won by Queen Victoria School and the current champion is Marist Brothers High School (MBHS). History RKS shared the championship with Suva Grammar School in 2005. Queen Victoria School won the Deans Trophy 23 times and drawn 6 times. It won the trophy in the Under 18 age group in 2011. The Queen Victoria School Dream Team retained the Deans Trophy in 2012 undefeated from Under 14 in 2008 till Under 18 in 2012. In 2019, QVS has won the Dean's trophy for a record 23 times after they defeated favorites and neighbors Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) in the final.
