Jinnwoo
Ben Webb, known by the stage name Jinnwoo, is a Brighton-based musician, artist and writer. Music career After gigging pubs and clubs for numerous years, Jinnwoo independently released his debut EP ''Your Baby'' in 2014, as well as featuring on Kyla La Grange's second studio album ''Cut Your Teeth''. This led to him being listed as one of ''The Independents "10 faces to watch for 2015". He released his first full-length album, ''Strangers Bring Me No Light'', in 2016. The album featured guest appearances from the Kyla La Grange, Georgia Ruth, Alasdair Roberts, Malcolm Middleton, Rachael Dadd, Kamila Thompson, Noah Georgeson, The Earlies, and Hannah Peel. Bird In The Belly
Bird in the Belly are a Brighton-based folk music collective, consisting of alt-folk musician Jinnwoo (Ben Webb), folk duo Hickory Signals (Laura Ward and Adam Ronchetti), and producer and multi-instrumentalist Tom Pryor. History In August 2016, Jinnwoo announced he was working with a new folk collective called Bird in the Belly. Bird in the Belly stated their objective as a band was to uncover forgotten or overlooked British songs, stories, and poems, and reintroduce them into the current folk music canon. The band released their debut single "Horace in Brighton" in November 2017. The lyrics are based on a poem by Horace Smith, detailing his day trip to Brighton in 1813. The band's debut album ''The Crowing'' was released in March 2018. The album consisted of songs the band had found in archives and libraries, set to contemporary folk music by the band. Alasdair Roberts (musician)
Alasdair Roberts (born 8 August 1977) is a Scottish folk musician. He released a number of albums under the name Appendix Out and, following the 2001 album ''The Night Is Advancing'', under his own name. Roberts is also known for his frequent collaborations with other musicians and writers, as well as for being a member of the folk supergroup The Furrow Collective. Early life Roberts was born in Swabia, Germany, the son of former folk guitarist (and partner of Dougie MacLean) Alan Roberts (1946–2001) and his German wife Annegret. He has two sisters. He was raised in Kilmahog, a hamlet close to the small town of Callander, near Stirling in central Scotland, where he started playing the guitar and writing music. He has long been based in Glasgow. Georgia Ruth
Georgia Ruth Williams (born 5 January 1988) is a Welsh singer-songwriter and harpist. She sings in both English and Welsh. Early life Williams was born in Llantwit Major in South Wales. At the age of four she moved with her family to Aberystwyth, where she was educated bilingually in English and Welsh, though her parents were not Welsh speakers. She began to learn the harp at the age of seven, and began to perform her own music whilst studying English Literature at the University of Cambridge. Her early recordings were sent to BBC Radio Wales's Adam Walton, and acclaim led to an early ''BBC Introducing'' appearance at the 2008 Glastonbury Festival. Frankie Armstrong
Frankie Armstrong (born 13 January 1941) is an English singer and voice teacher. She has worked as a singer in the folk scene and the women's movement and as a trainer in social and youth work. Her repertoire ranges from traditional ballads to music-hall and contemporary songs, often focusing on the lives of women. She is a key mover of the natural voice movement and is the president of the natural voice network, and has been a voice coach for theatrical groups, including at the National Theatre for 18 years. Noah Georgeson is an American musician, producer, engineer, mixer and solo recording artist. Georgeson's debut album '' Find Shelter'' was released through Plain Recordings on November 28, 2006. Early life and education Born in San Anselmo, California, he moved with his family to Nevada City, California at the age of three. Georgeson studied classical guitar and music composition, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in composition from San Francisco State University in 2001, and, with a recommendation from Terry Riley, he attended Mills College, receiving his Master of Fine Arts in 2003. The Earlies
The Earlies are a band formed by Christian Madden and Giles Hatton from Lancashire, England, and Brandon Carr and John Mark Lapham from the United States. They are notable for blending elements from a wide range of musical genres and have been described as both "a very English kind of folk-psychedelia... with a smattering of Beach Boys harmonies" by ''The Independent'', and "country-meets-prog-meets-electronica symphonies" by ''The Guardian''. In the late 1990s, prior to his Earlies days, Lapham released ambient electronic music, under the name Autio, on Manchester record label Beatnik Records. Hatton recorded as Atomic Clock for the same label. The band are notable for using a large live line-up consisting of 11 members who play an eclectic range of instruments, including the flute, the tuba, the cello, a set of turntables and a synthesizer, alongside the more traditional rock instruments. Kyla La Grange (born 25 July 1986) is an English singer and songwriter from Watford, England. Career Early life She studied at Rickmansworth School in Croxley Green, Hertfordshire. Her mother is South African, while her father is from Rhodesia (modern-day Zimbabwe) though both live in England. She achieved a 2.1 in philosophy, studying at Pembroke College, Cambridge from 2004-07. In June 2012, Kyla headlined the Guardian New Band of the Day gig. ''Ashes'' (2011-2012) Kyla had early success on the Amazing Radio new music chart. Rachael Dadd is an English folk and lo-fi musician based in Bristol, England. She is currently signed to French independent label Talitres. Dadd has played at a variety of UK music festivals including Glastonbury, End of the Road, Green Man and Truck. Charles Andrew, (born 1980) is a British record producer, mixer and songwriter. He is best known for his work with indie band Alt-J. In 2013 he was awarded 'Breakthrough Producer of the Year' by his peers at Music Producers Guild awards, in 2016 he won the 'Producer of the Year award' and in turn was awarded the Brit Award for 'British Producer of the Year'.
