James Caldwell (Ohio Politician)
James Caldwell (November 30, 1770May 5, 1838) was the first member of the United States House of Representatives to represent Ohio's 4th congressional district. Early and family life His father James Caldwell (1724-1804) and his wife Elizabeth were Irish gentry whose name reflected Castle Caldwell established in Ulster Plantation a century earlier. They had emigrated with nine children to Maryland in 1769 and then moved to what became Wheeling in what was then Virginia in 1772. During their sea voyage, Elizabeth Caldwell gave birth to Samuel Caldwell, and in Baltimore, Maryland she bore this James Caldwell Jr., then Susana Caldwell (b. 1772), Alexander Caldwell(1774-1838), and Joseph Caldwell (b. 1777). ''Top Card'' is a game show that aired on TNN and produced by Reid-Land Productions, replacing TNN's original game show ''Fandango''. The show aired from April 3, 1989 to March 26, 1993 and was based on the card game Blackjack. Jim Caldwell was the original host of ''Top Card'', with Blake Pickett serving as his hostess. The two remained until the beginning of the series' third season in 1991 and were replaced by Dan Miller and Paige Brown. The announcer for the show's entire run was Don Dashiell, with Brad Staggs substituting for several weeks in the third season. ''Tic-Tac-Dough'' is an American television game show based on the paper-and-pencil game of tic-tac-toe. Contestants answer questions in various categories to put up their respective symbol, ''X'' or ''O'', on the board. Three versions were produced: the initial 1956–59 run on NBC, a 1978–86 run initially on CBS and then in syndication, and a syndicated run in 1990. The show was produced by Barry & Enright Productions. Jack Barry, the co-producer, was the original host of the 1950s version, followed by Gene Rayburn and then Bill Wendell, with Jay Jackson and Win Elliot hosting prime time adaptations as well. Wink Martindale hosted the network and syndicated version beginning in 1978, but left the program to host and co-produce ''Headline Chasers'' and was replaced by Jim Caldwell who hosted during the 1985–86 season. Sir James Caldwell, 4th Baronet
Sir James Caldwell, 4th Baronet, Count of Milan (c.1720 – February 1784) was an Anglo-Irish soldier and author. Caldwell was the son of Sir John Caldwell, 3rd Baronet and Anne Trench. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1737 and was made a freeman of Derry in 1741. In the early 1740s he undertook the Grand Tour, during which he enlisted as an officer in the Austrian Imperial Army. He served as aide-de-camp to Charles Emmanuel III of Sardinia, and was employed chiefly in negotiating with the Kingdom of Great Britain. He was made Count of Milan by Empress Maria Theresa in 1749, having inherited his father's baronetcy in 1744. Unwilling to take the oath of allegiance to Austria, Caldwell declined the post of chamberlain to Maria Theresa and returned to Ireland in 1750. The Caldwell Baronetcy of Wellsborough, County Fermanagh was created in the Baronetage of Ireland on 23 June 1683 for James Caldwell, High Sheriff of County Fermanagh in 1677. He owned Castle Caldwell at Templecarne, Co Fermanagh and also bought the estate at Wellsborough. Sir James Caldwell, 4th Baronet fought as an officer in the Austrian Army, was made Deputy Governor of Fermanagh in 1752, elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1753 and was High Sheriff of Fermanagh in 1756. His son Sir John Caldwell, 5th Baronet fought in the British Army in India, was Governor of County Fermanagh in 1793 and High Sheriff of Fermanagh in 1798. James Caldwell (born May 16, 1943, in Macosquin, Coleraine, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland) is a Northern Irish mathematician. Education Caldwell was educated at Macosquin Primary School, then Coleraine Academical Institution followed by Queen's University of Belfast; Professor James Caldwell obtained his BSc (1st Class Hons.) degree in applied mathematics and his MSc degree in numerical analysis from Queen's University Belfast in 1964 and 1966, respectively. In 1974 he was awarded his PhD degree in "Magnetostatic Field Calculations", under Dennis Gibson, from Teesside University. Professor Caldwell was awarded his first higher doctorate (DSc) degree by Queen's University of Belfast in 1985 for his research and scholarly work on "Mathematical Solution of Physical Problems Particularly Involving Magnetostatic Fields" and his second DSc by Teesside University in 2007 in recognition of his research and scholarly work in Mathematical Modelling. James Erwin Caldwell (September 18, 1854 – September 26, 1944) was an American businessman and banker from Tennessee. He served as the President of the Cumberland Telephone & Telegraph Company, later taken over by Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company (now part of AT&T), which installed telephones across the Southern United States. Early life James Erwin Caldwell was born on September 18, 1854, in Memphis, Tennessee. Career Caldwell acquired a controlling interested in the Cumberland Telephone and Telegraph Company in 1890.
