Jimbilnan Wilderness
Jimbilnan Wilderness is an 18,879 acre (7,640 ha) wilderness area that starts from the northeast side of the Black Mountains (Nevada), Black Mountains and extends eastward towards Lake Mead. On its west side lies Pinto Valley (Nevada), Pinto Valley Wilderness Park, and Las Vegas can be found 40 miles (64 km) west from the area. Jimbilnan Wilderness was designated as a wilderness area in 2002 and is under the management of the National Park Service. Geography The terrain of the Jimbilnan Wilderness is quite diverse, from canyons that sprawl from the Black Mountain (range), Black Mountains range to three washes that plateaued towards Lake Mead. The area is also well-known for several rare floras, Astragalus, the Beaver Dam milkvetch and Buckwheat, the sticky buckwheat. A variety of bird species make their home in this wilderness area, including the red-tailed hawk, the white-crowned sparrow, and Bald eagle, bald eagles. Black Mountains (Nevada)
The Black Mountains, a mid-Miocene formation, in Nevada are a series of rugged, arid rocky volcanic mountains ranging in elevations to 3310 ft. The range lies on the north shore of Lake Mead, at the southwest corner of the Overton Arm, about 25 mi south of Overton, Nevada. Lake Mead is a reservoir formed by the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River in the Southwestern United States. It is located in the states of Nevada and Arizona, east of Las Vegas. Black Mountain (range)
The Black Mountain ( cy, Y Mynydd Du) is a mountain range in South, Mid and West Wales, straddling the county boundary between Carmarthenshire and Powys (formerly Brecknockshire) and forming the westernmost range of the Brecon Beacons National Park. Its highest point is Fan Brycheiniog at 802 metres or 2,631 ft. The Black Mountain also forms a part of the Fforest Fawr Geopark. ''Astragalus'' is a large genus of over 3,000 species of herbs and small shrubs, belonging to the legume family Fabaceae and the subfamily Faboideae. Buckwheat
Buckwheat (''Fagopyrum esculentum''), or common buckwheat, is a flowering plant in the knotweed family Polygonaceae cultivated for its grain-like seeds and as a cover crop. The name "buckwheat" is used for several other species, such as '' Fagopyrum tataricum'', a domesticated food plant raised in Asia. Despite its name, buckwheat is not closely related to wheat.
