Jim Westby
James Allen Westby (born March 5, 1937) is an American former ice hockey defenseman and Olympian. Playing career Westby played with Team USA at the 1964 Winter Olympics held in Innsbruck, Austria. He previously played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers of the University of Minnesota. Personal life Westby's grandson, Jimmy Snuggerud, is a college ice hockey player for Minnesota and was drafted in the first round of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft The 2022 NHL Entry Draft was the 60th NHL Entry Draft. Defenseman
Defence or defense (in American English) in ice hockey is a player position that is primarily responsible for preventing the opposing team from Goal (ice hockey), scoring. Jimmy Snuggerud
Jimmy Snuggerud (born June 1, 2004) is an American collegiate ice hockey right wing for the University of Minnesota of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). He was drafted 23rd overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Snuggerud spent two seasons with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. During the 2021–22 season, he recorded 24 goals and 39 assists in 59 games. Snuggerud competed at the 2022 BioSteel All-American Game. Snuggerud is committed to play college ice hockey for the Minnesota Golden Gophers during the 2022–23 season. He was drafted 23rd overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 2022 NHL Entry Draft was the 60th NHL Entry Draft. The draft was held on July 7–8, 2022, at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec. Montreal were originally scheduled to host the 2020 draft but were unable to do so due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For the first time since 1985, the team hosting the draft selected first overall. The first three selections were Juraj Slafkovsky going to the hosting Montreal Canadiens, Simon Nemec being selected by the New Jersey Devils, and Logan Cooley being picked by the Arizona Coyotes. Minnesota Golden Gophers Men's Ice Hockey
The Minnesota Golden Gophers men's ice hockey team is the college ice hockey team at the Twin Cities campus of the University of Minnesota. They are members of the Big Ten Conference and compete in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I ice hockey. The Golden Gophers have won five NCAA national championships, in 1974, 1976, 1979, 2002 and 2003.
