Jim Longley
James Alan Longley (born 28 July 1958) is a former Australian politician and banking executive. As a member of the Liberal Party, he served as the Member of Parliament for Pittwater in the Legislative Assembly of New South Wales (NSW) from 1986 to 1996. During his tenure in the Assembly, he was Minister for Community Services, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, and Minister for the Ageing. Education and personal life Longley was born in Sydney, New South Wales (NSW), and attended Mona Vale Primary School, Sydney Grammar Preparatory School, Narrabeen High School, and St Andrew's Cathedral School. He received his Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney, a Master's degree from Macquarie University, and also attended the University of Washington in the United States. Liberal Party Of Australia (New South Wales Division)
The Liberal Party of Australia (New South Wales Division), commonly known as the New South Wales Liberals, is the state division of the Liberal Party of Australia in New South Wales. The party currently governs in New South Wales in coalition with the National Party of Australia (NSW). The party is part of the federal Liberal Party which is in opposition nationally. Following the Liberal Party's formation in October 1944, the NSW division of the Liberal Party was formed in January 1945. For the following months, the Democratic Party and Liberal Democratic Party joined the Liberal Party and were replaced by the new party's NSW division. 1995 New South Wales State Election
Elections to the 51st Parliament of New South Wales were held on Saturday 25 March 1995. All seats in the Legislative Assembly and half the seats in the Legislative Council were up for election. The minority Liberal Party-led Coalition government of Premier John Fahey was defeated by the Labor Party, led by Opposition Leader Bob Carr. Carr went on to become the longest continuously-serving premier in the state's history, stepping down in 2005. Fahey pursued a brief career as a Federal Government minister. John Gilbert Brogden (born 28 March 1969) is an Australian mental health and suicide prevention advocate, suicide survivor, businessman and former NSW politician. Max Smith
Richard Max Smith (22 February 1930 – 8 November 2020) was an Australian politician. He represented Pittwater in the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1978 to 1986, first as a member of the Liberal Party and then as an independent. Smith was born in Gladesville to John Voyle Smith and Doris Ethel Cullen. He was educated at Parramatta High School and then the University of Sydney, and was selected as the youngest member sent to the Duke of Edinburgh's 1956 study conference at Oxford. He became a miner and colliery manager. He worked for Australian Iron and Steel from 1951 to 1962 and was superintendent of Rio Tinto from 1962 to 1967, subsequently serving as consultant mining engineer until 1974.
