Jim Lindberg
James William Lindberg (born July 26, 1965) is an American singer and guitarist. Active since the 1980s, when he played in local bands in his early career, he is best known as the songwriter and lead singer of the punk rock band Pennywise, which he fronted from 1988 to 2009, and has again since 2012. He also founded The Black Pacific, who released a debut album in 2010. Lindberg became Pennywise's main lyricist after the death of bassist Jason Thirsk, who was responsible for encouraging the band's message of positive mental attitude and self-reliance. A UCLA English major graduate, Lindberg often cited American transcendentalist philosophers Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau as major influences on his lyrics. The band took its name from the antagonist in Stephen King's horror novel '' It'' known as Pennywise the Dancing Clown. Rancid is an American punk rock band formed in Berkeley, California in 1991. Founded by Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman, former members of the band Operation Ivy (band), Operation Ivy, Rancid is often credited as being among the wave of bands that revived mainstream interest in punk rock in the United States during the mid-1990s. Over their -year career, Rancid retained much of its original fan-base, most of which was connected to its underground musical roots. Rancid has had two lineup changes since its inception, with Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman being continuous members. Their current lineup consists of Armstrong on guitar and vocals, Freeman on Bass guitar, bass and vocals, Lars Frederiksen on guitar and vocals, and Branden Steineckert on Drum kit, drums. NOFX
NOFX () is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1983. Vocalist/bassist Fat Mike, guitarist Eric Melvin and drummer Erik Sandin are original founding and longest-serving members of the band, who have appeared on every release of the band, although Sandin departed briefly in 1985, only to rejoin the following year. El Hefe joined the band in 1991 to play lead guitar and trumpet, rounding out the current line-up. NOFX's mainstream success coincided with increased interest in punk rock during the 1990s, though, unlike many of their contemporaries (including Bad Religion, Green Day, and The Offspring), they have never been signed to a major label. ''About Time'' is the third studio album by American punk rock band Pennywise, released on June 13, 1995. Although the album was not a commercial success, it is widely considered to be one of Pennywise's best releases, and it includes their concert staples "Peaceful Day", "Perfect People", "Every Single Day", and " Same Old Story". ''About Time'' was also the first Pennywise album to chart in Billboard; the release peaked at number 96. Most of the album follows the theme of problems with time: fear of it passing, controlling it and accepting it. After frontman Jim Lindberg briefly left the band during touring in support of its previous album, '' Pennywise'' (1991), Pennywise began the recording sessions for their second album. Randy Bradbury
Randy Bradbury (born September 20, 1964) is the current bass guitar player for the Californian punk band Pennywise. He joined in October 1996 when founding bass player Jason Thirsk took a leave of absence to go to rehab for alcohol addiction. Bradbury was supposed to switch to rhythm guitar when Thirsk returned, but it never happened due to Thirsk's suicide in 1996. Bradbury played bass for early punk pioneers ''The Falling Idols'', bass for the last Tender Fury album, as well as playing bass on the first two albums by One Hit Wonder before leaving to join Pennywise. He has a tattoo of Jack Bruce on his arm. ''Pennywise'' is the debut studio album by the American punk rock band Pennywise, released on Epitaph Records on October 22, 1991. Writing and production Writing for the first Pennywise album began around 1989/1990. The band recorded it in 1991 at Westbeach Recorders in Hollywood, California. Epitaph owner/founder Brett Gurewitz actually produced the album. However, constant disagreements with guitarist Fletcher over the album's production and his dislike of the sound of the album prompted him to have his name taken off the credits in the liner notes. Reception ''Pennywise'' was released on October 22, 1991, and was the band's first album distributed via Epitaph Records.
