Jim Kreider
James Andreas Kreider (born June 24, 1955) is an American Democratic Party politician who served as Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives. Kreider was born in Nuremberg, Germany. He graduated from Nixa Public High School in 1973 and received a degree in agricultural business and economics from Southwest Missouri State University. He was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives after redistricting in 1992, defeating longtime Republican legislator Don Gann. He was the first Democrat to represent Christian County, Missouri, since 1904 and the first Democrat to represent heavily Republican southwest Missouri since 1955. He became Speaker pro tempore in 1997 and Speaker in 2001. In 2002, he ran for the 20th district seat in the Missouri Senate, losing to Republican Dan Clemens Dan J. The Republican Party, also referred to as the GOP ("Grand Old Party"), is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States. Dan J. Clemens (January 3, 1945 – July 22, 2019) was a Republican Party (United States), Republican member of the Missouri State Senate. Biography He was born in Webster County, Missouri, and educated in the schools of Marshfield, where he was an active member of Future Farmers of America. He later went to the University of Missouri, where he was elected to the Missouri Senate, and obtained a master's degree in agriculture there. He was the owner and operator of a third-generation family farm where he raised row crops. He attended the First Baptist Church, and served on the Soil and Water District Commission, the Agriculture Advisory Commission, and a farmer representative on the James River Partnership. The Missouri Senate is the upper chamber of the Missouri General Assembly. It has 34 members, representing districts with an average population of 174,000.
