Jim Harkins
James Harkins (born December 29, 1953) is an American politician who served as Director of Maryland Environmental Services from 2005 until March 2016. He also is a former Harford County Executive and Delegate for District 35A. In December 2019, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan appointed Harkins to the University of Maryland Medical System board of directors. Education Harkins attended Bel Air High School. He received his A.A. from Harford Community College. Career Harkins joined the Harford County Sheriff's Office and was eventually promoted to sergeant. He was awarded Police Officer of the Year - Harford County by the Baltimore Sun in 1981 and Deputy of the Year, Harford County Sheriff's Department, 1981. He chaired the Republican Central Committee, Harford County, 1987–90. In 1996, he was elected as Delegate, Republican Party National Convention, 1996, 2000, 2004. Harford Community College is a public community college in Bel Air, Maryland. It was established as Harford Junior College in September 1957 with 116 students in the buildings and on the campus of the Bel Air High School in the county seat. The Bel Air campus of 1964 occupies and now has 21 buildings totaling over . History HCC was founded in September 1957 as the "Harford Junior College" on the campus and in the basement of the building for Bel Air High School with 116 original students. By four years later in September 1961, enrollment had risen to 354. Robert Leroy Ehrlich Jr. (born November 25, 1957) is an American lawyer and politician who served as the 60th Governor of Maryland from 2003 to 2007. A Republican, Ehrlich represented Maryland's United States House of Representatives, Maryland District 2, 2nd Congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2003. Before that, he was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates. In 2006 Maryland gubernatorial election, 2006, Ehrlich was defeated in his bid for re-election by Democrat Martin O'Malley.
