Jim George (weightlifter)
James D. George (born June 1, 1935) is a retired American weightlifter. He competed at the 1956 and 1960 Olympics and won a bronze and a silver medal, respectively. George is the son of Bulgarian immigrants from Macedonia. His elder brother, Pete George Peter T. George (June 29, 1929 – July 27, 2021) was an American Olympic weightlifting, weightlifter and Olympic and World champion. He was later an assistant professor of stomatology. Ireneusz Paliński
Ireneusz Paliński (13 May 1932 – 9 July 2006) was the first Polish weightlifter to win an Olympic gold medal, which he did in 1960. In 1961 he won the middle-heavyweight world title, setting new world records in the clean and jerk and in the total.
