Jim Driscoll (baseball)
James Bernard Driscoll (born May 14, 1944 in Medford, Massachusetts) is a former Major League Baseball second baseman and shortstop who played in two seasons with the Oakland Athletics and Texas Rangers. He batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Playing career Driscoll was drafted by the Milwaukee Braves as an amateur free agent in June . That November, he was drafted by the Kansas City Athletics in the 1962 first-year draft. He was in the A's minor league system when the team moved to Oakland in , and made his major league debut with the A's in , appearing in 21 games for the major league club that season. He began the season with the Triple-A Iowa Oaks then was acquired by the Washington Senators during that season. The Senators assigned him to the Triple-A Denver Bears, where he spent the remainder of the 1971 season. The following season, the Senators moved to Arlington, Texas and became the Texas Rangers. Jim Merritt
James Joseph Merritt (born December 9, 1943) is a former left-handed Major League Baseball pitcher. Minnesota Twins Merritt originally signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers out of Edgewood High School in West Covina, California, but was plucked from their organization by the Minnesota Twins in the 1961 first-year draft before pitching a game for his home team. He went 54–45 with a 3.39 earned run average and 719 strikeouts over four seasons in their farm system when he was called up to the majors in 1965 by the first place Twins just before World Series rosters were set. He made two appearances in the World Series against his former franchise, pitching 3.1 innings and giving up an earned run. Merritt got off to a horrible start in 1966. Despite a respectable 2.95 ERA, his record stood at 0–6 on July 1 thanks to a lack of run support.
