Jim Devitt
James Devitt (11 October 1921 – 20 November 1988) was an Irish hurler who played as a right corner-back for the Tipperary senior team. Devitt joined the team during the 1945 championship and was a regular member of the starting fifteen until his retirement after the 1950 championship. Cashel King Cormacs GAA
Cashel King Cormacs GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Cashel, County Tipperary in Ireland. They play their games in Leahy Park, on the Clonmel Road in Cashel. The club is named for the king-bishop Cormac Mac Cárthaigh (d. 1138). Extensive work has been carried out in the last few years, with the addition of a new clubhouse and main stand the highlight. Notable games have been held here in the last few years and it has become the annual venue for both the County Senior Club Football Final and the Munster Colleges Senior Hurling Dr.Harty Cup Final. Hurling ( ga, iománaíocht, ') is an outdoor team game of ancient Gaelic Irish origin, played by men. One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, the number of players and much terminology. The same game played by women is called camogie ('), which shares a common Gaelic root. The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league.
