Jimmy Armstrong (footballer, Born 1904)
James Harris Armstrong (8 March 1904 – 13 April 1971) was an English footballer who played as a centre half. Born in Lemington, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Armstrong played as an amateur at Easington Colliery, before turning professional in November 1926 with Clapton Orient. At the end of the 1927–28 season he transferred to Queens Park Rangers, before joining Watford on a free transfer in May 1933. Armstrong made over 200 appearances for Watford in all competitions, scoring twice. He was part of the team that won the 1937 Third Division South Cup under the player-management of Neil McBain. He left the club in 1940, following the suspension of competitive football due to the Second World War. Following his retirement from professional football, Armstrong worked for Universal Asbestos, and remained in their employment until shortly before his death. James Michael Armstrong (14 July 1917 – 8 July 1981) was an Australian sport wrestler and rugby league player. He was born in Albury, New South Wales, and worked as a police officer. Armstrong was selected to play for Australia against Great Britain as a front row forward in the third and deciding Ashes test in 1946, becoming Kangaroo No. 233. He won a bronze medal in freestyle wrestling, heavyweight class, at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. At the 1950 British Empire Games Armstrong won the heavyweight wrestling gold medal. Jim Armstrong (guitarist)
James Armstrong (born 24 July 1944, Belfast) is a guitarist from Northern Ireland. Armstrong's musical career started while he was still a schoolboy, when he played in Belfast's top showband, The Melotones, who were resident in the city's Romano's Ballroom. Armstrong played and recorded in the mid-'60s with Van Morrison and Them, touring both Europe and America (where he lived – playing and recording – for 4 years). Of the 51 tracks recorded by Morrison and Them (1964–66), Armstrong played on over half, and while living in America met and played with Jim Morrison & The Doors, Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa. During this time he was voted 3rd best guitarist in the world (after Jimi Hendrix & Frank Zappa). James P. Armstrong (born June 30, 1950) is a former Canadian curler and wheelchair curler now living in Ontario. He was a successful able-bodied curler for much of his career until he had to stop playing because of bad knees and a car accident in 2003. Career Curling career Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Armstrong began curling at eight, and by the age of 22 he made his first Brier, playing second for British Columbia, skipped by Jack Tucker. The team finished 5–5 at that 1973 MacDonald Brier. Armstrong skipped B.C. in the following Brier, placing third with a 6–4 record. Armstrong wouldn't make another Brier for 9 years, when he played third for Bernie Sparkes at the 1983 Labatt Brier.
