Jim Allen (cricketer)
Charles Henry "Jim" Allen (born 15 August 1951) is a former Montserratian first-class cricketer who was a part of the World Series Cricket West Indies XI and is considered the greatest ever Montserrat sportsperson.Fergus, H. Montserrat
Montserrat ( ) is a British Overseas Territories, British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean. It is part of the Leeward Islands, the northern portion of the Lesser Antilles chain of the West Indies. Montserrat is about long and wide, with roughly of coastline. Davon Williams
Davon Alphonso Williams (born 27 May 1972) is a Montserratian former cricketer who played for the Leeward Islands in West Indian domestic cricket. He played as a right-handed batsman. Williams appeared at Under-19 level for the Leeward Islands in the 1988–89 season, making a total of three appearances for the team. In 1990, he made a single appearance for Leeward Islands Young Cricketes against Australia Young Cricketers. He later made his first-class debut for the Leeward Islands against Jamaica in the 2000–01 Busta Cup. He made two further first-class appearances in that seasons tournament, against the Windward Islands and Barbados. He scored 138 runs in his three matches, at an average of 27.60, with a high score of 48. In April 2001, he played for the University of West Indies Vice-Chancellor's XI in a minor match against the touring South Africans at the Salem Oval on Montserrat. George Allen (cricketer)
George Raymond Allen (4 June 1949 – 20 September 1990) was a West Indian cricketer. Allen was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born on Montserrat. First years Allen made his first-class debut for the Leeward Islands against the Windward Islands in 1970. Two years later in 1972, he made a second first-class appearance for the team against the same opposition. In that same year, he played three first-class matches for a Combined Leeward and Windward Islands team during the 1971–72 Shell Shield season, against Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago and Barbados. Later that year, he made three further first-class appearances for the Leeward Islands, against the touring New Zealanders and twice against the Windward Islands. His final first-class appearance in 1973 for the Leeward Islands against the touring Australians. Howard Fergus
Sir Howard Archibald Fergus (born 22 July 1937) is a Montserratian author and historian. He was born at Long Ground in Montserrat. He attended Bethel Primary School, Montserrat Secondary School, Erdiston Teachers College in Barbados, the University College of the West Indies (London), the Universities of Bristol and Manchester, and finally the University of the West Indies (UWI), earning a PhD in 1978. He retired from the University in 2004 as Professor of Eastern Caribbean Studies. Fergus has written and edited more than 14 books, including several works on Montserratian history and society. His scholarly works have been published in a number of international journals and he is also an established poet. Fergus was winner of The Caribbean Writer Poetry Prize in 1992 and of the David Hough Literary Prize for an author residing in the Caribbean in 2002. Brades
Brades (also Brades Estate) is a town and the ''de facto'' capital of Montserrat since 1998 with an approximate population of 1,000. History The still ''de jure'' capital of Montserrat at Plymouth in the south of the island was abandoned in 1997 after it was buried by the eruptions of the Soufriere Hills volcano in 1995. Interim government buildings have since been built at Brades, becoming the new temporary capital in 1998. The move is intended to be temporary, but it has remained the island's ''de facto'' capital ever since. Several names have been suggested for the new official capital now being constructed in the Little Bay area. The Super50 Cup, currently named the CG Insurance Super50 Cup for sponsorship purposes is the domestic one-day cricket competition in the West Indies. It was previously known as the KFC Cup until the fast food chain pulled out of sponsorship in 2008 and the WICB Cup until 2011.
