Jill Horstead
Jill C. Horstead (born May 1, 1967) is a former competition swimmer who represented Canada in international events during the 1980s. Competitive career As a 16-year-old at the 1983 Pan American Games in Caracas, Venezuela, she placed fourth in the 200-metre butterfly with a time of 2:17.13, finishing behind Mary T. Meagher, Tracy Caulkins and Marie Moore. She won a bronze medal in the 200-metre butterfly at the 1985 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Tokyo (time: 2:13.46), and another bronze in the 200-metre butterfly at the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh (time: 2:14.53). Horstead competed in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where she advanced to the B Final of the women's 200-metre butterfly, clocking a time of 2:13.49 and finishing first in the B Final consolation heat (ninth overall). World Aquatics Championships
The FINA World Championships or World Aquatics Championships are the World Championships for aquatics sports: swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, artistic swimming, and water polo. They are run by FINA, and all swimming events are contested in a long course (50-metre) pool. The event was first held in 1973 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, and is now held every two years. From 1978 to 1998, the World Championships were held every four years, in the even years between Summer Olympic years. From 2001 until 2019, the Championships have been held every two years, in the odd years. 2022 World Junior Figure Skating Championships
The 2022 World Junior Figure Skating Championships was held from April 13–17, 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia. Figure skaters competed for the title of junior world champion in men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. The competition determined the entry quotas for each federation during the 2022–23 ISU Junior Grand Prix series and at the 2023 World Junior Championships. The competition was originally scheduled to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria from March 7–13, 2022. On February 27, the ISU announced that in light of the COVID-19 pandemic in Bulgaria and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the event would be unable to be held as scheduled in Bulgaria. A four-time World Aquatics champion and two-time Commonwealth Games gold medalist, she is the current world record holder in the women's 400 metre individual medley. Brooke McIntosh (born January 5, 2005) is a Canadian pair skater. With her skating partner, Benjamin Mimar, she is the 2022 NHK Trophy bronze medallist and 2023 Canadian national silver medallist.
