Jiangbei, Meizhou
Jiangbei () is an area in the prefecture-level city of Meizhou, Guangdong. It is situated on the left bank of the Mei River (梅江). Jiangbei and Jiangnan, on the right bank, were long the urban core of Meixian District. Both areas were carved from the county according to the new systems of territorial administration after 1949. The two areas are joined by many road and foot bridges. The syllable Jiang () in their names refers to the Mei River (Méi Jiāng in Pinyin Hanyu Pinyin (), often shortened to just pinyin, is the official romanization system for Standard Mandarin Chinese in China, and to some extent, in Singapore and Malaysia. A prefecture-level city () or prefectural city is an administrative division of the People's Republic of China (PRC), ranking below a province and above a county in China's administrative structure. During the Republican era, many of China's prefectural cities were designated as counties as the country's second level division below a province. Meizhou (, Hakka Chinese: Mòichû) is a prefecture-level city in eastern Guangdong province, China. It has an area of , and a population of 3,873,239 million as of the 2020 census. Jiangnan, Meizhou
Jiangnan () is a subdistrict of the Meijiang District, Meizhou City, Guangdong, China. The municipal government, Intermediate Court and CPC and PSB are all located in Jiangnan. Historically, Jiangnan and its neighbour Jiangbei formed the urban core of Meixian District, from which both Jiangbei and Jiangnan were carved according to the new systems of territorial administration following the 1949 Revolution. Meixian District
Meixian (, Hakka: Moiyen), formerly Meihsien, is a district (China), district of Meizhou, Meizhou City, in northeastern Guangdong, Guangdong Province, China. The county is an important Hakka settlement and is the ancestral home of many Hakka descendants living in Taiwan. History Its original name was Chengxiang county () during the southern Han Dynasty where it was first created, all the way to the Song dynasty, Song, Yuan dynasty, Yuan and Ming dynasty, Ming dynasties, and then renamed Jiaying county during the Qing dynasty. Hanyu Pinyin (), often shortened to just pinyin, is the official romanization system for Standard Mandarin Chinese in China, and to some extent, in Singapore and Malaysia. Meander
A meander is one of a series of regular sinuous curves in the channel of a river or other watercourse. It is produced as a watercourse erodes the sediments of an outer, concave bank ( cut bank) and deposits sediments on an inner, convex bank which is typically a point bar. The result of this coupled erosion and sedimentation is the formation of a sinuous course as the channel migrates back and forth across the axis of a floodplain. The zone within which a meandering stream periodically shifts its channel is known as a meander belt. It typically ranges from 15 to 18 times the width of the channel.
