Jialal Vasant
Jialal Vasant was an Indian classical musician and music instructor. He was the founder of the Mumbai music school Acharya Jialal Vasant Sangeet Niketan. During his career as an instructor he taught a wide variety of students, including playback singers Suresh Wadkar and Vikas Bhalla Vikas Bhalla (born 24 October 1972) is an Indian film, television actor, singer and producer. Indian Classical Music
Indian classical music is the classical music of the Indian subcontinent. It has two major traditions: the North Indian classical music known as '' Hindustani'' and the South Indian expression known as '' Carnatic''. These traditions were not distinct until about the 15th century. During the period of Mughal rule of the Indian subcontinent, the traditions separated and evolved into distinct forms. Hindustani music emphasizes improvisation and exploration of all aspects of a raga, while Carnatic performances tend to be short composition-based. Suresh Wadkar
Suresh Ishwar Wadkar (born 7 August 1955) is an Indian playback singer. He performs in both Hindi and Marathi films. He has sung songs in some Bhojpuri films, Odia albums and bhajans and in Konkani films. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for 2018 for Sugam Sangeet. In 2020, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri. Early life and musical training Wadkar was born in Kolhapur in a middle-class family that soon moved to Girangaon. His father Ishwar Wadkar worked in cloth mills and his mother cooked food for the mill workers. In youth, he wrestled at akhadas and frequented the Talwalkar gym with his father, who was also a wrestler. In 1968, when Wadkar was 13, Jialal Vasant encouraged him to work towards the "Prabhakar" certificate offered by the Prayag Sangit Samiti, because it was equivalent to a BEd and qualifies the awardee to teach professionally. Vikas Bhalla
Vikas Bhalla (born 24 October 1972) is an Indian film, television actor, singer and producer. Vikas is trained in Hindustani classical music from Allahabad University, under Pandit Jialal Vasant. He appeared as a lead actor in films in the late 1990s, and went on to feature in several music and video albums. In 1995, Bhalla made his film debut in Ramesh Modi's ''Sauda'', in which he played the lead role of Deepak, opposite Neelam. The film was inspired by the Hollywood blockbuster ''Indecent Proposal''. Alongside his acting career, Bhalla also pursued his career in singing and launched the albums ''Hai Dhuan'', ''Awaara'' and ''Mehek Teri''. His chart buster track "Hai Dhuan" from his debut album ''Dhuan'' got wide acceptance and made him popular and prominent singer.
