Richard Roach Jewell (1810 in Barnstaple, Devon, England – 1891 in Perth, Western Australia) was an architect who designed many of the important public buildings in Perth during the latter half of the nineteenth century. He was employed to supervise many major building projects around England, churches in Bristol, Cardiff, Clifton, Eye, Horsley and Stroudswater. As well as churches he also supervised construction of Stanstead College, a military prison in Gosport and fortifications at Portland Castle and Southsea Castle. Richard Allensworth Jewell (born Richard White; December 17, 1962 – August 29, 2007) was an American security guard and law enforcement officer who alerted police during the Centennial Olympic Park bombing at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. He discovered a backpack containing three pipe bombs on the park grounds and helped evacuate the area before the bomb exploded, saving many people from injury or death. For months afterward he was suspected of planting the bomb, leading to adverse publicity that "came to symbolize the excesses of law enforcement and the news media." Initially hailed by the media as a hero, Jewell was soon considered a suspect by the FBI and local law enforcement based on psychological profiling. Philip "Jimmy" Jewell (1953 – 31 October 1987) was a British rock climber and free soloist who was active during the 1970s and 1980s. Early life Jewell was born in South Wales and spent much of his childhood in Ferndale, where he climbed in the quarries above the town. He moved with his family to Birmingham, England while still a child. His father had worked in the South Wales Coalfield but moved to Birmingham in search of better employment. Climbing Jewell was a member of the Birmingham Cave and Crag Club. On first approaching the club he was taken to Llanberis by club members Graham Wales and Mick Moss. On that trip, he was taken up ''Direct'' at Dinas Mot. Eighteen months later he led ''Cenotaph Corner'' at Dinas Cromlech. Paul Jewell (born 28 September 1964) is an English football manager and former player, who was most recently director of football at Swindon Town. Jewell began his playing career with Liverpool, continued at Wigan Athletic and concluded in a ten-year spell with Bradford City, apart from a short loan spell with Grimsby Town. When his playing career ended, he became part of the coaching staff at Bradford City. Jewell was appointed manager in 1998 and took City to the Premier League before resigning and becoming manager of Sheffield Wednesday. Captain Norman "Bill" Limbury Auchinleck Jewell MBE DSC (24 October 1913 – 18 August 2004) was an officer in the Royal Navy. As commander of the submarine HMS ''Seraph'', Jewell was involved in one of the most vital acts of deception of the Second World War.
