Jetter Mars
is an anime series directed by Rintaro and written by Osamu Tezuka. Originally planned by Tezuka as a full-color remake of the original anime adaptation of his popular manga series ''Astro Boy'', unfavorable circumstances during the pre-production phase of the project led him to abandon it temporarily and create ''Jetter Mars'' instead. Although it remains as one of Tezuka's lesser known works, it gained a large following and is fondly remembered. Development Unlike the vast majority of Osamu Tezuka's characters, Jetter Mars wasn't first published in comic book form, written and illustrated by Tezuka. Yumiko Igarashi
is a Japanese manga artist. She is best known for illustrating the manga series ''Candy Candy''. Career In 1968, as a third-year high school student at the Asahi Gaoka High School in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Igarashi made her debut in Shueisha's ''Ribon'' manga magazine with '' Shiroi Same no iru Shima''. She won the 1st Kodansha Manga Award in 1977 as the artist of ''Candy Candy''. In the late 1990s, Igarashi became involved in a number of legal battles related to her intellectual property rights as an illustrator. Tezuka Award
The is a semi-annual manga award offered by the Japanese publisher Shueisha since 1971, under the auspices of its ''Weekly Shonen Jump'' magazine. It awarded new manga artists in the Story Manga category. Its counterpart award, Akatsuka Award, awards new manga artists in the Comedic Manga category. The award is named after the manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka and is designed to cultivate new artists. The prize for a top Selected Work is two million Japanese yen and for a lesser but still worthy work, a million yen. The award also has third place honorable mentions for contestants deemed worthy, that includes half a million yen. These cash prizes may not be awarded (as is often the case) if the judges deem none of the candidates worthy.
