Jesús Díaz (football Referee)
Jesús Díaz Palacio (born October 16, 1954) is a retired Colombian football referee. He is known for having refereed two matches in the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico. One of the matches, Iraq versus Belgium, caused controversy as Díaz gave a yellow card to Iraq's Basil Gorgis in a case of mistaken identity (the yellow was supposed to be given to Ghanim Oraibi Ghanim Oraibi Jassim Al-Roubai (born 16 August 1961) is an Iraqi football defender who played for Iraq in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. 1986 FIFA World Cup
The 1986 FIFA World Cup was the 13th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial football tournament for men's senior national teams. It was played in Mexico from 31 May to 29 June 1986. The tournament was the second to feature a 24-team format. Colombia had been originally chosen to host the competition by FIFA but, largely due to economic reasons, was not able to do so, and resigned in 1982. Mexico was selected as the new host in May 1983, and became the first country to host the World Cup more than once, after previously hosting in 1970. The World Cup was won by Argentina (their second title, after winning in 1978). Argentina was captained by the 25-year-old Diego Maradona, who played a large part in his team's success by scoring his " Hand of God" goal, as well as another voted "Goal of the Century", in the same quarter-final against England. Basil Gorgis
Basil Gewargis Hanna or Basil Korkis ( ar, باسل كوركيس ) (born 8 January 1961) is a former Iraq national football team, Iraqi international football player of Assyrian people, Assyrian descent. Despite having a short career, he is considered to be one of the best players of all time in Iraq, being known for his tenacity and attacking threat. As a player, Basil took the national team to uncharted territory, where he was part of the Iraqi "golden team" of the 1980s that included Hussein Saeed and Ahmad Radhi. Ghanim Oraibi Jassim Al-Roubai (born 16 August 1961) is an Iraqi football defender who played for Iraq in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. He also played for Al-Shabab.
