Jessica Meuninck-Ganger
Jessica Meuninck–Ganger is an American printmaker, educator, and book artist. She is based in Milwaukee. Early life and education She began her professional career teaching in the Elkhart Memorial High School art department, where she received the Sallie Mae Outstanding Beginning Teacher award. While teaching in Indiana, she co-chaired the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for the Indiana/Michigan region and taught summer courses through the Elkhart School Corporation's Gifted and Talented Program. She received her MFA in Studio art from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 2004 and a BS degree in visual arts education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, in 1995. She is currently an assistant professor of art at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Printmaker
Printmaking is the process of creating work of art, artworks by printing, normally on paper, but also on fabric, wood, metal, and other surfaces. "Traditional printmaking" normally covers only the process of creating prints using a hand processed technique, rather than a photographic reproduction of a visual artwork which would be printed using an electronic machine (Printer (computing), a printer); however, there is some cross-over between traditional and digital printmaking, including risograph. Diego Velázquez
Diego Rodríguez de Silva y Velázquez (baptized June 6, 1599August 6, 1660) was a Spanish painter, the leading artist in the court of King Philip IV of Spain and Portugal, and of the Spanish Golden Age. He was an individualistic artist of the Baroque period (c.1600–1750). He began to paint in a precise tenebrist style, later developing a freer manner characterized by bold brushwork. In addition to numerous renditions of scenes of historical and cultural significance, he painted scores of portraits of the Spanish royal family and commoners, culminating in his masterpiece ''Las Meninas'' (1656). Velázquez's paintings became a model for 19th-century realist and impressionist painters. The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) is a private art school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Founded in 1974, it offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. MIAD is considered the successor to the Layton School of Art, and was formerly known as the Milwaukee School for the Arts. History MIAD’s predecessor was the Layton School of Art. Layton was founded in 1920 by Charlotte R. Partridge and Miriam Frink. The two women worked together from 1920 until their retirement in 1954 to establish Layton as an accredited institution of higher education. The South Bend Museum of Art is located in South Bend, Indiana. Founded in 1947, the museum features historical and contemporary art in five galleries, and offers instruction in its studios. William Kentridge
William Kentridge (born 28 April 1955) is a South African artist best known for his prints, drawings, and animated films, especially noted for a sequence of hand-drawn animated films he produced during the 1990s. The latter are constructed by filming a drawing, making erasures and changes, and filming it again. He continues this process meticulously, giving each change to the drawing a quarter of a second to two seconds' screen time. A single drawing will be altered and filmed this way until the end of a scene. These palimpsest-like drawings are later displayed along with the films as finished pieces of art. Jan van Eyck ( , ; – July 9, 1441) was a painter active in Bruges who was one of the early innovators of what became known as Early Netherlandish painting, and one of the most significant representatives of Early Northern Renaissance art.
