Jessica Amey
Jessica L. Amey (born November 15, 1976) is a former competitive butterfly swimmer from Canada, who competed for her native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. There she finished in 25th position in the 100-metre butterfly, after having won the silver medal in the 4×100-metre medley relay one year earlier at the 1995 FINA Short Course World Championships, alongside Julie Howard, Lisa Flood and Shannon Shakespeare. Swimming At The 1996 Summer Olympics
The swimming competition at the 1996 Summer Olympics was held at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center in Atlanta, United States. There were 762 competitors from 117 countries. This was the last Olympics where swimming B-finals were held. At the time of the games, the facility had a temporary 50m warm-up pool located behind the locker rooms and entry concourse (on the ground); as well as a temporary roof, and open walls (there were wall-like structures/curtains at the diving well and turning end of the pool). The open walls allowed for temporary seating to be in place during the games. A wall and new roof have since been placed on the facility. Shannon Shakespeare
Shannon Shakespeare (born May 6, 1977) is a Canadian former competitive swimmer and freestyle specialist. Shakespeare competed for Canada at two consecutive Summer Olympics in 1996 and 2000. At the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, she finished in 17th position in the 100-metre freestyle, 5th place in the 4x200 metre freestyle and 4x100 metre medley relays, and 7th place in the 4x100 metre freestyle relay. A key member of the Canadian women's relay teams in the 1990s, Shakespeare won a gold medal in the 4x200 metre freestyle relay at the 1995 World Championships. She also won a bronze medal in the 50-metre freestyle and 4x100-metre freestyle relay in the 1994 Commonwealth Games. She was the Canadian champion in the women's 50, 100, and 200-metre freestyle, and a 23-time All American while swimming at the University of Michigan.
