Jesse O. Sanderson High School, more commonly called Sanderson High School (SHS), is a co-educational 9–12 public high school located in Raleigh, North Carolina, United States in the Wake County Public School System. The school was founded in 1968. It is named after a former superintendent of Raleigh public schools, Jesse O. Sanderson. Sanderson runs on a 2x4 block schedule; it was one of the first schools in the area to do so. It is known for its performing arts, athletic, and community outreach programs. Clubs Sanderson's student government has received recognition for their participation in the Sanderson community. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. David Fox (swimmer)
David Ashley Fox (born February 25, 1971) is an American former competition swimmer who won a gold medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, and a four-time gold medalist at the World University Games. Fox swam at North Carolina State University, where he won seven Atlantic Coast Conference championships, and one NCAA national championship. Fox was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame on May 6, 2016. Clark Brisson (born February 9, 1969) is a retired U.S. soccer striker who is currently the Executive Director of the James Island Youth Soccer Club. He was a 1989 first team All American at the University of South Carolina and went on to play for nearly a decade in the National Professional Soccer League, USISL and USL A-League. Paul Friedrich (comic Artist)
Paul Friedrich is an American comics artist from Raleigh, North Carolina. He is the creator of the characters Onion Head Monster and Hubie the Dead Cow, among others. He is also the creator of HellCar comics. Life Friedrich was born to Denise and Al Friedrich of North Hills. His interest in art began at Brooks Elementary School in Raleigh. He won a $200 cash prize from the Art in the Park painting of Pullen Park from local reporter Fred Fletcher of WRAL. He attended Jesse O. Sanderson High School, where he worked with artist Bob Rankin, and graduated from East Carolina University in 1989.
